Did some looking and that serial # makes the engine an 84.

Same as 83. Only difference was colours. I bought a new 84. Scared myself silly and started an addiction. Still trying to scratch that itch.

Tried the dowel and hose clamp trick, still no spark. Working on getting a puller for the rotor to see which stator is on it.

I found a 52y-50 cdi box for $200. Its a new one, not used. Is there a way to wire this cdi box in place of the 29k cdi box?

Keeping in mind that a decent curve adds around 3-4 hp I'd not say you bit the bullet.
Would you say that, if you bought a pair of pipes, or would you rather regard it as a common update?

Well, i really didnt mean it that way. With the Cad at barely around 70 cents. That $240 box cost about $425 by the time it got to me. But it was gonna cost me $300 Cad for a NOS box from the dealer.
The Zeel i feel was the better deal. Now just get it painted to original and neaten up the wiring.
I just want a running bike, not lookin for max power or anything like that. Im not gonna wind it out to 9 grand, just want a nice old smoker to take out on the weekend.
