I would love to do it with a period seat. I believe the frame rails are too wide for the TZ seat, so you'd have to modify those rails, cut, strip and weld and then paint. +++.
You'd be better off making a plug and making your own knock off. Check out AirTech, as they have a decent selection of bodywork and could verify what will work.

That's what I have been looking for. I am surprised you don't see more bikes like this

Every time I see a pic of a TZ 750 i wonder if you could do something similar?

I want to do the TZ250S tail at some point. I went with a Honda RS250 instead. It was wider and was to easy to fit.

Well I have just ordered one of thos TZ seats. i am going to have to cut it an re-model to fit the rails. I haven't really used glass fibre before, so should be fun :smt003

Well this is where i'm at. i have had it all sprayed etc, but when I fit the bodywork and seat, I just don't like how it looks :smt009 because of this the bike has sat unloved for about a year. not sure weather to cut the bracket of the bottom of the tank, or put a strip across it yet?

Should probably have decided to make these alterations, before I got this far :smt005

If you don't intend to use the stock side panels, then remove the tab. I removed mine. It's useless with any other bodywork.

But then a valuable tank becomes worth much less!

True. But, it's been painted - less value now. Would he ever sell the tank separate from the bike - maybe. If that was a spare tank, I'd say keep the tab. If that is the tank that will be used with the bike - hack it off if it serves no purpose. Unless he wants to be able to go back to a stock bike at some point, it's not needed.

Well i have done a quick mockup to see how the seat will look. it's a bit late now as i've cut the sub frame :smt010

I have a 2" strip through the center of the seat to re-glassfibre and it needs to be re-modeled where it meets the tank

Hi,
Interesting thread. I am doing the same with an F2 frame and some parts left over from another project. I wanted a minimal seat that didn't look too out of place on the F2 - not easy given the shape of the F2 tank. I got this seat of ebay;

Image

I had to cut the frame tubes at the back to make it fit, and had seat supports welded in to support it properly. Battery will live in the tail section. I alo had a flat steel plate welded in as a rear mudguard;

Cool thread. I'm currently building one and did a bunch of photoshop mock-ups, but it was hard to find a seat that looks good with the RZ tank. The TZ250S seat definitely looked the best to me, but I feel it would need to be shortened to look right. I ended up using a TZ250G tank and TZ250H seat and made a new subframe.
