Giulliari Seats 4 Elsie's

#1 Post by LC Cnd » Wed Nov 19, 2014 6:52 pm

Just wanted to enquire about the mystique about Giulairi after witnessing a recent Ebay-bid. I can understand, perhaps, the estetics of a Giiliari but are they more comfortable to ride than the stock seats? Is more prestige issue regarding their rarity/quality? Curious 2 know if $$ is best spent on a Sargent or just be satisifed with the original. Have yet to ride the LC being refurbish - hence, the lack of knowledge on the subject but wanted to ask (ya.., its a pun). Thx

yeah you would think the Gully seat is something amazing by the prices they command, but, well, it is just a seat of course. I find mine comfy enough but ive not sat on it for hours. it would be rubbish for a passenger tho, the shape isnt designed with one in mind. They also only look good to those who like them, its a marmite (Vegemite for the locals) thing, either you do or dont, no inbetween. I love mine and am glad i have one.

I have considered making my own seat as I like the style but not enough to pay the ridiculous prices they are commanding now( I haven't even seen one for sale in a while). The one thing I am missing is a lack of pics of the seat pan, is it possible for you to post a pic of the seat pan on yours, would be much appreciated.

I will have a look Solo, but I doubt Ive taken any. I did check my site and it seems there isnt one there. I do know that in the uk guys have build Gully reps on OEM bases if that helps, as its mostly foam that makes the shape.

sadly no good pics on my server, will need to take one, that might take a while.

Main thing is that the original gullys dont have a plastic tang, its a bolted on steel item.

Thanks for that, I'm surprised that it is so much like the stocker. Maybe I'll make one yet, I did upholstery for 10 years before becoming a machinist.

There ya go! Thanks Winner.

I think it couldnt be too far from stock as it has to fit the bike of course. Most guys build replicas on OEM seat bases as I mentioned earlier.

Found a South Vietnam m/c seat replica producer willing to create a gully off a LC seat pan. He stated the seat pan would be steel based off the pan I provide. A bit sceptical.

Eeek.

To be honest all the replica giuliari seats I have seen look a bit rubbish. In fact I can't say I like any of the custom seats/covers either.

Either find a genuine Giuliari or keep the original, nothing in between.
