How to apply bike decals on tricky surfaces

#1 Post by LC Cnd » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:30 am

Found this 'how to' apply decals on compound curve surfaces (i.e. LC tank) proper. Brilliant. Instructions are in 3 videos and uses a wet application which appears to provide more control on decal prep & placement. Video shows how to place a decal on a yellow round Yamaha motoX gas tank. Here's the link for the 1st video 2 get u started:

Soapy water works just as well. I take em right off the backing paper when I need to see where exactly to put em.

Yep, thats how I do it. Even then you always run into a compound curve that is just a bitch to get the decal to fit properly. An old hair dryer works wonders to soften the decal and help it stick down once you have it properly placed.

I use a Windex bottle with a few drops of dishwashing liquid in it. Works a charm.
