seat rail attachments?

#1 Post by Disco » Thu Sep 15, 2016 11:56 am

Hello all. Clock is ticking toward's Dad's 1984 b-day present :smt004 . A few days to go :smt048 ... I can't find how the seat rail (rear stay, passenger handle, grab bar...I've done searches of them all :smt012 ) which was not attached when I bought the bike and had no hardware, is held in place exactly.
What size/type of bolt and I'm assuming some type of washer(s) are used to secure it to the bike? Options if ordering new parts that will take 3 weeks to get here are needed?

Pictures would be SO awesome. If anyone could take off their seat and snap a few, thanks.

As for an upate, I've gotten everything as cleaned as I can (not mirror shine like some of you do, ie rearset polish). Sand, prime, repaint on the bars, levers, brake reservoir, mirror, horns, etc. New nuts/bolts or polished/painted as needed to get rid of the rusty crusty stuff that was on it. New grips. Fresh fluids. New shrader valves on forks. New battery. I didn't take out the motor or paint the frame, swingarm etc. That will be for a later opportunity with much more time than I had. But much of the ugly, ticky-tacky stuff to make it look good will be done. As of last night's final paint, I'll be ready to bolt everything back together this weekend. The seat rail is my final query and quest.

I apologize for no pics of the bike and process... I've got quite a few pics taken, but as some may remember I absolutely struggled with loading them so I stopped worrying about it and focused on what needed to happen. Once things settle a bit I'm going to attempt a new photo drop location and see if I can get things to load properly. Thanks again.

Ok thank you. Doubtful I'll pick up parts numbered 13, 19, 20, 21 in a couple days. But good knowing I can get them and for less than an arm and a leg. My local hardware store has a very good supply of metric bolts etc, so I'll swing in there and see what might match up for the short-term. They even have grommets that fit on other parts of the bike, so maybe...?

Hmmm, this may not help. It's all I could find.

I had to go back to where I used to host photographs bikepics.com to find this.

Hopefully it will be of some use.

Hey all, so in first post above, what I was looking for was these brackets: https://picclick.ca/Yamaha-Rd350Lc-Rd25 ... id=1&pid=5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Any help with where a fella could find a couple of these?

Hey Disco.

Here's a link to some on Ebay, but naturally they want waaay to much money for them.

I've got a set that I can let you have for a bit cheaper. :smt003

I sent you a PM.

To all: I'd like to give props and a shout-out to Off Road for selling and shipping me a set of the seat rail brackets (at a very reasonable price). Helping others like that is what makes this such a cool forum (beyond the awesome bikes). Kudos and thank you.

I guess if you need the part, "you gotta pay for it".

A grab rail with good chrome is probably worth close on $200 now to be honest, its not like dealers have em anymore... getting a rust pitted one redone wont be cheap etc.
