Some OffRoad guy approached me this week, and made me buy a bunch of F2 RZ parts from him. He threatened to sell them to someone else. That was the "made me" part. I will start an F2 build thread this winter some time.
On a happy note, I rode my bike home today from my garage. Love the way it runs in this cool weather. Tomorrow, Anna and I are going to go for a ride. This is big news. She sold her bike just before we met. She's been spooked by my son's accident. One of my employer's has a BMW GS650 that she's going to take out. Should be fun.

Went to the Red Deer swap meet today. Really big venue, lots of quality stuff. No RZ stuff to speak of.

Well, last year my yellow and black RZ spent some time on the dyno for some jetting. It ran great when I rung it's neck. The problem was running in the city. Often in traffic and thus, low rpm. Late last year I fouled a set of plugs. I replaced them. Things were fine this spring, then down one cylinder. Checked the plugs. Fouled again. Bought iridiums. I thought this will solve my problem. Fouled those too. I forgot to mention, that I dropped the pilot size to combat the low rpm blubber in the fall, and I never mess with pilots. Didn't seem to help too much. The odd thing about fouling the plugs this spring, was my move from 3,300 ft above sea level in Calgary to 2,100 ft above sea level in Edmonton. That 1,200 feet should account for one main jet size richer and some needle adjustment too. The bike was still blubbery down low. This past week I spent some time on the bike for maintenance and jetting. Due to the rich looking plugs I raised the clip on the needles one notch to drop them and lean things out a bit, which seemed crazy to me as I have moved into "thicker" air. Holy crap...the bike is running much better. Pulling hard from lower down the rpms, not sputtering so much. It just goes to show how important it is to read your plugs and adjust your jetting accordingly.
For those of you who have oil leaking out of the pipes at the barrels, and think sealing the pipes up is helping, try your hand at jetting. It will solve a couple of your problems at the same time. Substantial power gains, crisper throttle response, get rid of your leaky pipe issues and not plug up your pipes, plus you'll get more mileage from your plugs. Give it a go. See how these bikes should really run. It might just scare you enough to increase that smile on your face every time you ride.

I agree Rory, its all about jetting to what the bike wants, not to any specs or rules it seems. General rule of thumb notwithstanding of course. :)

Yeah. This bike really confused me. I just went with what I experienced. It should have been running leaner with the new environment, but I had to lean it out a little more. The plugs don't lie. I will keep on top of it and relay the info.

I started pulling my bike apart last night. I have Gage's to rewire after I split them, and mounts to make for them, an oil tank tang to reweld on the frame, and an exhaust leak to check out, as well as an oil change. The bike has been very good to me. I've run this engine for three seasons with zero maintenance. Gas and oil, plug changes and jetting changes. My rear tire is showing signs of wear too. It'll be off the road for a bit now. This is a hot week for us near 30C daily. All the crazy drivers will be out. Time to give her a rest and be good to her. Sprockets are starting to hook.

With all that rolling stock laying around, you were supposed to build up the "spare bike" before taking the yellow one apart...

Had a look. Power valve seals blew. Engine has to come apart.

I started on one of my stock bikes, pulling it apart tonight to get it in shape for the AirTECH bodywork, my preferred street digs. I'm not sure if this engine is worthy or not. Will find out soon, I hope.

I'm in need of some PV seals as well Rory... know where to hunt them down? Last I went through someone in Cali. May have been wicked.

Yamaha dealer? I'm pretty sure they were still available recently.

Yes, yes they are. I like OEM parts. Especially seals.

Hi guys,
I have not been on here for ages. My phone is not a good place to view here. Everything is too small. Time to set up the lap top again.
