JonW wrote:nice work on the shock, Ive read a few guys who found the R6 spring too soft, did you make any more of those rings to fit the RD spring? Id love to try one.

I didn't produce it myself, I sourced it from a local guy that was racing with RD. Anyway, I could send you a drawing, it is probably easier to produce it locally... It is an easy part to order to tour closest machine shop. Let me know and I can draw a sketch.

I must say that the shock with this deeper spring cup and the stock RD spring is just great! (I weight 85kg :smt022 )

I wanted a round single head light (I hate the rectangular one from Manaus), but I also fancied the idea of a smaller than stock one. Even better if I could keep it kind of close to OEM mindset...

I can check that, I don´t remember the cost, but it wasn't expensive (otherwise I would remember it).

I will also post a sketch as soon as I can.

85kg is terrible, shaving 10-15kg would be like getting 10hp fro free!! And much better brakes on top as a tip :smt026

The next set of parts is nice, I like the small light idea. I can see how this is going now. What rearsets are those?

LOL, well yes, maybe thats why we were all so much faster when we were 18, I was skinny and fearless then... :smt023

Rearsets are also locally produced, very nice guy who makes them. Stock dimensions for the exhaust bracket, you use the stock master cylinder, pegs position is more race alike (higher and shorter)... Probably lighter but I didn't check that. Anyway, under extreme leaning and with the stock expansion chambers in the stock position :smt022

when I was 18 and skinny, I also was fearless, reckless and many, many times stupid... :smt042

Nobody is perfect I can see.

I also wanted to improve the calipers, using the small pocket route, so I got from ebay UK a very cheap set of calipers from Hinckley, well, sort of... Nissin is not from UK as everyone know.

Needed to shave them and refurbish

In order to start with the head light and front cowl support, I needded some mock up and take some dimenssions directly "from the air", that is fu**ing difficult.

no one is perfect... a very true statement...

Good old Nissin calipers, a great upgrade. A guy locally here just did his the other week and just cant stop talking about how nice they are, I just smile and nod LOL, I havent used mine in anger yet, I really need to paint my F1... hmm.... Really these calipers are probably too much for the small, old and thin disks we all have, but they do make a massive difference compared to the old calipers.

Does your local rearset man sell overseas? I like the clean look of these and am always looking for new things to try. Let us know how you get on with them when you fit them. :)

Contact for the rearset, just try to send him an email if you like. I don´t know how much skill is he in English (most of the people in our age were at the pub when English classes in the high school)

Then I started some "improvisation engineering" in order to solve the front light and fairing bracket...

Image

Image

Image

Intention is to avoid attaching the front light and cowl to the fork, instead it will be attached in a similar way to a full fairing, and avoid transferring forces to the handlebars and steering...

Then had some "translation" from cardboard to alloy

Image

Image

and had to be welded by my good friend the welder

Image

Mock up again and more dimensions taking

Final product and mocking up the speedo/tacho (very cheap copy of koso thanks to Saint Ebay)

The good thing is that the engine was very very fresh, first oem bore and I just decided to put new rings, good for me since I have a lot of life on it...

Brakes came together nicely

Need to change the hoses, since DOT 4 and silicone hoses are not good friends...
