I have heat in my garage, but the garage is full. Too full to do any work. Our mild winter is now starting to fade fast. Bikes will be the order soon.
Evan was over the other day checking out my mess and the TZ.
Sold a stove yesterday and 2 night tables. More room in the garage now. I need a warm weekend and some time.

Thanks for having me over Rory. You should come check out my pile of bikes one of these days. TZ was interesting, needs a motor but should be cool. Believe I saw one on eBay today for mass dinero. $17k?

I find it hard to believe this month long chinook will carry through to the spring but it sure is looking like it so far. We are only midway through all the builds!

Offer still stands for some help as well.

I had a good night at work after work. That means I was working on my bike.
Steve and I were looking in to why my bike peaked out at 42 horse @7500 rpm. The power valve was a little jolty. Does that mean an electrical issue with the stater? Could it be a faulty power valve brain, or just gummed up power valves?
The crappy part is that I still don't know. I was working on bike two. I had to replace the front tire, balance it, replace the wheel bearings as well. Pulled the front end off, and did the steering head bearings, and then started working on the brakes. This is the bike that I was doing clutch work on way back.
It will be nice to have the second one up and running. I'd like to use this bike for my daily. I'm also hoping to get the '84 going. Big plans. Just starting to build them right now. unfortunately no pics. They will come as I get myself a little more together.

Take the cables off and try turning by hand to rule out mechanical issues, or better, take the cables off the servo pulley to move the valves and make sure the cables are also good. Cables were still available from Yamaha 2 years ago.

We did that Russ. Works fine. The PO put the seals in backwards though. The front wheel bearings I changed out yesterday were installed backwards by that PO. A load of ignorance out there.

Things are very slowly coming together for me. Recently I traded my M3 for the Aprilia RS250 mk2. Today I sold my BMW 318i. I just purchased a gas bottle to work on the bikes with. Yesterday I ordered a much needed seat for the Aprilia and I purchased another RZ gas tank. Every weekend I'm working on the house and garage, trying very hard to get rid of stuff.
I'm getting stoked to start working on the bikes at home, and not just relying on the Thursday night bike shop thing, if I have the time. Who has the time? lol.

Picked up 2 tanks last week. Thank you Evan for the goods. RZ tank and an LC frame. The other tank was stripped and came from another member here, who's been quiet for some time.

I just received a shipment from the USA east. Triumph calipers, braided lines, master and lever assembly. It will bolt right on to the F2. Can't wait to try them out.

I've just put my Triumph calipers back on after taking my bike part to clean it (don't ask). I noticed when I installed them that there was a slight odd sound coming to a stop, kind of like the muffled sound of a hockey card in bicycle spokes. While I had them off I compared pads to the RZ pads and they are about 6mm wider, and solid, whereas the RZ has a radial slot in the middle. I think the sound comes from the wider pads trapping air in the slots too long and it expands a bit from the heat. If you slide a pad along the back of the rotor you can see how the slot in the RZ pad minimizes this. As a countermeasure I used a triangular file and made 2 grooves in each pad, dividing it into three equal parts since it's wider than the original ones. I only made them about 2mm deep, but it'll be interesting to see if the noise goes away.

No worries Rory. Just watch out....at some point you will own ALL the RZ parts! JK. Loved the RS250 and once you get going there are going to be some cool machines in your garage!

Thanks Evan. In my garage and on the streets of Calgary. I plan on selling half of what I have after they are built. The idea is to help the 2 stroke community expand in Calgary.

Oooops! You may be right Evan. Yesterday I picked up an '84 RZ roller. I could not refuse the price. $260, no tank, engine, pipes, or seat. Included engine side cases, oil pump.
