Thanks LB, I'm no pro but at the prices these guys charge here, its a needs must thing as you know. :(
Mark, I used some generic glue gun sticks ive had for years that were in my toolbox, but to be honest pushing the dent was faster. you can buy proper glue and a kit for glue pulling PDR online for cheap tho on ebay etc.

Re: New LC project.... Restoration... I know, I know...
My gentle progress tiptoes ever gently (glacially is more apt perhaps?!) forwards on at least one of my projects...
Today it was the turn of the parts CHawC provided; a center stand and this rare uncut tray/number plate holder. After a wash in the dishwasher and some brake fluid to eat off some blue overspray and then a clean up with Autogylms finest, ie. Their Rubber and Vinyl Care we have this beauty:
Looks pretty good to me for a plastic part at the rear of an LC thats spent its life in Australia. :)

Re: New LC project.... Restoration... I know, I know...
yeah, I know, its mental really how the first thing we did back in the day was to modofy these bikes and yet now we all want them to be as they came off the shop floor. :/
I wrote this a while back for my site but havent published it yet... here is the sneak preview LOL!
Why do we do it?
When I was growing up in the UK and back when LCs first hit the shops the very first owner of any example of the new market beating, and ultimately law changing LC, rode either from the bike shop directly to a tuner or went home via the newsagent to pick up an MCN or Bike magazine and from the small ads bought a range of ‘go faster’ products. Perhaps with an Allspeed or Micron pipe, a set of HyTech reeds, natty coloured grips, or a (questionably) tasteful seat cover. We also randomly decorated (usually over the scratches and bumps from offs) our bikes with stickers from the products we fitted, EBC brakes were a firm favourite, and ditched superfluous weight like center stands, tool trays and coil covers and set about cutting down the mudguards and indicator brackets to get the coveted 'racey look'. This mild customising made them our own and no two LCs were were completely the same, there was never any doubt which was your bike outside the chippy and you would instantly recognise your mates round town. While the richer lads could afford clever paint jobs and engine work the rest of us made do with mere randomly fitted stickers (once we found that they covered scratches quite well) and found a set of files to attempt MCN’s '£35 porting guide'. In fact I can clearly remember a time when all our hard earned money from those dead end first jobs either went on HP for the bike or on goodies for it... and beer, chips and birds of course, but I digress...
So why on earth are the most sought after parts today all those parts that we cut down and trashed back in the day? Well It's because we seem to think that what will make our lives complete is to build an LC as it came from the factory. But, hold on... Isn’t that nuts? We didn’t ever keep a one standard back in the day, why do we need to build one now? Are we atoning for our sins at messing with uncle Yamaha’s beautifully designed product back in the day, if so isn’t this actually some kind hell that we envisaged when we were in our late teens and early twenties?
I don’t get it, yet I'm part of it... I know, and you know, it’s not right, but... Well, a standard LC looks great. It's one of the most iconic designs of the biking world and filled our heads during our dreams both day and night back in the day as we read and re-read the sales brochures pinned to the walls of our bedrooms. Yamaha got it very right when building our bikes, the design has endured as long as the legend, and shows no signs of abating. So that’s all good. But, standard... C’mon lads... Why?
I mean, I see a standard LC and my head spins and I start thinking, “ohh a set of ‘spannies, port work, a nip 'n tuck here 'n there and maybe some garish stickers and I could enjoy that...” Yet I'm sat here perusing online sites looking for standard parts, I'm visiting mates and asking if they’ve seen a (insert uncut hard to find part) in their spares boxes. I mean, that’s just silly right? You don’t even see some of these parts when the bike is built!
But... I know all this, yet I (like many others) will still build a pretty standard LC. Crazy perhaps, but don’t judge me until you’ve ridden in my adidas. I can only assume I feel the need as I don’t really remember what one is like, I never rode one for more than a day or so... I hope its not boring...

Its very exciting John, and they way you describe that muddy I sold you brings a tear to my eye. Now do the right thing mate, pop another 100 in my paypal account mate, you know I sold it to you way to cheap.
Re the stand I had a few different types in my shed, I sent you what I think was a good one, the others went went with the trailer of parts
The hard item to find is the plastic cover that covers the coil, sits under the tank at the front.
And the wholly grail of course, the plastic Yamaha drip tray that sits under the carbs and redirects any spilt fuel down that hole just behind the rear cylinders, (now that's a rare item)

Re: New LC project.... Restoration... I know, I know...
In Canada the plate holder and tools box are 2 separate parts .
Re: New LC project.... Restoration... I know, I know...
LOL at horsey. Amusingly I missed two of these on ebay the few weeks before and felt each time like I wouldnt see another since we all cut them. The stupid thing is the first one sold for only $4.99 and I noticed it didnt sell the first time round, so they are are still out there! The second one sold to France actually as I know the seller and he told me, so the French cut these too.
Stand is ok ta, its had the foot pad replaced but otherwise is nice n strong looking, I will probably put it on my 421 as its modded and run the 421's on this bike as while the foot pad has been road-rashed its more original.
The other rare parts I have, tho never heard of a drip tray, I assume that's a wind up :)
Zed, yes I was talking to Rob (Redline) about that the other week and I was amazed that you Canadians got the best of both worlds as you didnt have to cut them up like the ROW. I do wonder what crazy local law meant they had to come up with a special part just for that market?

I would have thought that would have grown a set of legs and taken off Jon W. At any rate glad the stand worked out, what about the bag of parts, didn't get a mention.

Seahorse, Here is the coil cover you spoke about. They would normally get tossed just like the plastic cover on the RZ350F in front on the steering stem.

Agreed Rob, most people undid those parts for some maintenance and then just didnt bother putting them back on, instead sweeping them into the trash. At least there was enough LCs that you may find a coil cover, but those F1 frame covers... no way...
