That's a tough one. The tail is way higher then the tank. The line of the tank and the tail line up, but the tank is at the wrong angle on that frame. It looks awkward to me.

I like the tail. See if you can get the solo seat cowl and it will look even better.

It looks quite good perhaps a little too long just maybe. If you are using any form of front fairing bikini number plate full fairing, even possibly color matching the headlight housing would offset any issue of the length of the tail.
I like what you did with the fuel tank / subframe mount,at the frame. I am working on a fuel tank conversion myself and that is a simple solution I was trying to keep my rear subframe intact. But the YZR tail section just does not look correct with the angle of the stock subframe so your solution just might be my solution :-) and I can save two pounds probably.

Thanks for all the feedback. You now when you build something, you've seen it 100 times and you get used to it , it is difficult being critical.. It is almost like seeing the shortcomings of your own children..it's just not going to happen..))

Anyway, about what has been said..Height. I took off the passenger seat. Like it was mentioned here it will look better with the cowl cover. And i will try to get a flat one rather than the "hunchback one"

I did post some photos at a Norwegian forum to see the reactions there and they all seemed more concerned with length rather than height. But again it is a deception as the tail looks to be further out back than the wheel, but it is not. And sometimes people think that in their own mind they prefer any bike to look like a flat tracker, and that is not at all what i am trying to do.

One more thing about the height thing, i sent a photo to some friends, and they too felt it was high in the rear. But when the most critical guy came over to see it in real, he felt it was where it should be. Especially with the rear seat off..

And another thing he pointed out was that the rear hugger looked dated...When i think about it, he is right..it is from 1989. What should i do with it? Try cut it down or buy something modern, then try to make it work??

I took another photo with the pipes on it, rear seat off and had the bike sit more upright than on the first ones.

And about the subframe mount and shock mount. There are a bunch of pipes and brackets not really seen now, but i will get in to that with photos and all when i get it finished.

I was going to mention the hugger, but without a solution it felt like i was not picking. Ive got them on my bikes with RGV, and am considering removing them, but on the LC it looks ok, maybe the carbon version is better? you could cut it down or at least shot some black over it before you rip it off completely, white isnt helping.

I guess they all looked like that back in the day. Two problems with it is: 1: the rear swing and hugger were only made in 1989. So no carbon is available because in 1990 came the new model which looked very different. 2: it is partly chain-case on the left side and finding something from another bike that will fit is not so easy. so in away i would like to keep it. Still i don't want my bike to look "mid nineties" at one particular area..

It is whitish in colour now because it looked like Sh** when i got it and i have used filler to try remove all scratches and imperfections. i did have some plans to get it "water transfer dipped" to get the carbon look, but now i just don't know.
I think maybe cut it down and flat black might be the right way to go...

Understood. Try and photoshop it to a dark grey, should give you an idea of what it would look like perhaps?

I think the height is just fine, and certainly could live with the length, it's a minimal detail. Its your bike, it has to be what you like, looks good so far. The rear Hugger brings back memories! I used to add one on my old bikes as stock 1988-90 GSXR hugger they bolted right up on a stock RZ swingarm. The white color ?, if it were my bike, Id change it to black, or carbon. Here is a link for carbon 400 huggers, I don't know what year but they do look quite nice.

I did try it without the hugger..not really sure i know what i think..
I found one guy locally which has loads of new huggers as he sells of cheap, I will go pay him a visit to see if he has something that will fit but looks a little more up to date.
Anyway I am finished fitting the Triumph Daytona side-stand. Turned out pretty nice. This idea is stolen from JonW`s website where a stand like this is fitted to an LC. I got a complete sidestand with bracket and return-springs of ebay Germany for 25 Euro. The stand is made of aluminum and has a really nice finish to it.

There are 2 ways to get this mounted.
1 mount the stand to the existing Yamaha bracket on the frame. Or
2 weld in or bolt in the Triumph bracket.

On JonW`s website he chose to work with the Yamaha bracket, welding what is needed to bolt on the stand to that bracket. The bracket on my F1 frame is not the same as the LC. Still the stand bolts up really well, but will need the end-stops welded to make it work. That involves some work. One thing I liked with the sidestand and bracket when I got it was the firmness and smooth operation with a tight click in each end position. I really wanted it to be like that on the bike. So I began looking in to somehow incorporating the bracket onto the frame. The mounting flange would have been nice to use but that would involve frame welding and fitting a large plate to bolt the bracket to. I don’t think that would look nice, and the angle on the bracket would not look good. After doing some measurements I found out that I could cut out a part of both the Yamaha bracket and the Triumph one then fit them together.

One thing I liked about it, is that I could cut out a section of the Yamaha bracket. And it would leave me a 90 degrees to weld on giving lots of strength rather than just cutting it straight off (don’t know if that made sense) Both the Triumph and the Yamaha brackets has some reinforcement ribs that also add to the rigidness.

As for welding…I am old school. I use the stick welder. The bracket on the frame is cast and the Triumph bracket is steel so I used cast to steel electrodes. It will never fall off.
Length-wise and angle-wise, the stand fits nice. It is almost as it was made to fit this bike.

Thats fantastic Tommy, well done on the new way of fitting, great idea to have 90 deg of weld on that bracket. Im so glad this worked for you. Its a lovely stand compared to the OEM steel thing, some guys polish them up too, but I prefer them OEM triumph. :)

Thanks Jon..It was a great idea to begin with...

i also like the fact that i am adding another bike brand in to my bastard mix of motorcycle...

in the colour department I think the stand will be flat black.. actually i am considering flat black on all frame related and swing arm.

flat black will look great, people will struggle to identify what part came from where. I get that quite a bit with my bikes, if you look at them fast they look mostly like OEM, if you stop and stare its like youtube, ie it sucks you in and you tend to lose track of time as you look around. I like it when people start to see the details... those are bits that took the time :)
