TDR 421cc

This is what is all starts with. Crusty, old, rusted, motor frozen, brake calipers frozen, chain so rusted it does not roll, fairing bracket busted, gauges busted, stopped running 10 years ago or more, not a pretty sight. !! A couple hours and it is all apart and the fun begins.'
Image
Image

Stripped the frame wheels, cut off all the unnecessary tabs, brackets and rear stand mounts.

Gas tank was horrible and dented under the blue paint but no internal rust.

Image

Nothing a little bondo won't fix !!

Fitting the dirt track style seat.

Image

ZX 10 style rear tail light.

Image

A slight custom grind on the wheels.

Image

The basic mockup. Just getting all the footpegs, brackets, and parts fit before powder coating.

Image

First coats of black on the tank, seat, and headlight bucket.

Image

We do all the powder coating in house. Here are some engine parts that are done.

Image

Frame & swingarm are done. Basic assembly again. Transtech dash is really nice with the exception that it is already discontinued!! Arhhh!

Image

Wheels, Calipers, pegs are powder coated and installed.

Image

Image

Pipes and engine are mounted. Pipes are temporary for now as I am designing my own. These pipes are extremely good for making power. We use them on some of our race bikes.

Image

Image

Did not like the long silencers so I changed to shorty's.

Image

Side panels have been added to cover things up. They will have real Carbon fiber material when I am finished.

Damn man. Serious blue bomber there! Airtech kit worth a couple bucks. Looks mostly intact? Florida bike and all that rust sounds like a lot of bearings to replace!

Good starting point! What's the plan (other than a 421 based on title :) )?

Hey Evan,

It will all get posted in the next few weeks as I get the time. Off racing this weekend at Gingerman.

It will be a simple black street ride. nothing fancy.. My test bed for all the engine packages I am working on.. $21cc is the first. 443cc next, and a 565cc after that. Pipe prototypes are done . Just tweeking the port timings, CDI, and the exhaust to get the best overall performing kit.

Air tech fairing & seat are for sale.

Very cool. Shoot me a price on the fairing minus tail if you don't mind! What gets you to a 565?

Oh, we all find some nice old pieces out there. Have fun with her Tony.

Picked it up a few years ago from a friend in Fort Lauderdale, my old stomping grounds, and drug it out of my storage warehouse for this build.

465cc is a 10 mm stroke and 68mm bore. Getting the motor back to closer to square is a good thing as the balance between stroke and bore makes a much smoother running engine. I will also do a 425cc for our road race team. 65mm bore 10 mm stroke. almost square. working out all the porting details and pipes to be released soon.

Tony, I really like this build. It looks fantastic.

I may have missed it but what is that seat/tail section?

Is it an off-the-shelf for sale unit?

And then the carbon fiber side panels and triangles, will they be production for sale items?

Thank you.

kpke, Thanks

The seat is from Airtech CB750DTS http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/vin ... ttrack.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Image

I modified the underside to take the ZX10 tail light. There are lots of tailight options that woul fit.

I made the carbon panels and yes I could have a mold made and sell them. ??

They will get a silver stripe to match the silver highlights that will be on the tank & seat.

The Kevlar silencers are Jim Lomas. I got them from Fast from the Past. Jim Hinshaw.
