Hi folks. I'm from Switzerland and here is my experience about my RD350YPVS / TZ bitza.

:smt049 Love it ! :smt049 Looks great, cool thing about the RZ is you can go 80s or 90s or a combination of both.
Like the 421, a buddy just built a economy one, using the same Lomas pipes, lays down a very respectable 76 h.p. and is completely streetable, a really fun bike.

Thank you QV RZ :smt002 i'm still working on the frame. I have to rebuilt the rear subframe to suit the new tank and I'm waiting now on Chromoly tubes sourced in Pilatus Aircrafts to sort this. I also have to modify the frame to allow the final drive chain to be perfectly strait. But here is a tip for those they want to put an R6 swingarm/rim. My solution goes through :

- 18mm offset front sprocket 520 - 17t

- For the rear sprocket in the way to source one with 39th in 520 but suitable for the R6 rim, the one of the Honda NC750 Integra is perfect but with holes of 10,5mm.

With this combination you have to get only 3mm on the inner area of the frame to have the correct chain clearance :smt041

Hope this helps because there is no details on the web about the chain issue after the R6 swingarm conversion.

Otherwise here is the paintscheme I choose for my bike. It's inspired by the Cagiva 500 X4 (the first GP machine of the factory of Varese, but was in fact the Suzuki 500) and also inspired by the McLaren A1M of Elvis in the movie Spinout. Frame, fork, swingarm, rims will be black and "numberplates" white separated of the champagne gold by a black line.

This color comes clear to my mind because I'm a fan of Cagiva (was formerly racing for them in supermono class in my young age), Elvis, CanAm and McLaren :smt030

Very nice build. I love your choice of tank. TZ, I assume. Which year?
I'm still not a fan of changing the bike so radically, but have to admit it looks fantastic. I don't like having to offset the sprocket, as the stresses added to the output shaft are greatly increased. Case and bearing issues. Time will tell on that one.

Thank Questo Vecchio RZ, in Europe it's called ZXR750 Stinger, I do own this one since 10 years. Equiped with race camshafts, factory modified carbs and Yoshimura full exhaust system.....14'000 rpm :-)

Here is the next step for the RD/TZ, the frame is naked again, and I prepare the frame modification for the lateral chain clearance. There is 3mm to gain,that mean 5 mm with plates and welding :-)

I think the usual solution is to use a narrower rear tire, cut down the sprocket carrier, and move the front and rear sprockets inboard.

Another less common solution is to cut and spread the frame. Still seen it many times.

I've never seen an RZ frame chopped like this, and I've seen a lot of modified RZ frames.

I like your project, but don't understand why you selected this method of modification? :smt017

Smoker, with the 180 rear tire this is the only way. But there is no issue to modify the frame this way. As long as you opt for quality steel and tig way of welding.

AC Sanctury, the renown japanese Kawasaki customizer are doing the same but reducing far more with half the section for overpowered Z900 and Z1 :smt023

If I am interpreting your photographs correctly?
It appears as if you basiclly are creating a (deep channel) then, you will plate/fill/reinforce it ?

If so, that's pretty neat! ?. I never would have thought ,of that and it's right there in front of one to see.
I can understand keeping the tire @180 due to rim width requisite, but that is such a simple cool trick..I've had several RZ frames crack around the kickstand area, and had them repaired & welded with permanent results , A good welding job I'd think would be more than adequate there, a good welder of course...not a muffler shop...lol

Please post close up photos when you have it all final.
