Rz395 race bike

#1 Post by Gus the crank guy » Fri May 25, 2018 12:56 am

A lil background, I'm a 500 guy that in December decided I'm gonna build a bike to go road racing, I joined AHRMA and started the project. Got it done and showed up at Roebling road was having an ignition issue but went anyway well went to the racing school and tried to get out of it, told the instructor I've raced Scott Russell, Doug Polen and Kosinski he said ok sit in the front row. Well came out to go out on the track no spark! Uuugh ok told the teacher see you at CMP. Come home find the ground wire wrecked and get the bike running but having carb issues, but back to school, pass the school race the weekend and finish mid pack somewhere totally pissed, Load the bike head to Michigan to my partner in crime put the bike on the Dyno and it makes 65 rwhp, my buddy laughs, what a piece of crap! We change timing from .080 to .100 gain 6 hp, rejet carbs gain more, pull the modified reeds put in vforce 3's not the best Reed but better finally the bike runs good and makes 86 rwhp.

Part 2,
While at Kershaw they tell me at tech this bike is not legal for Formula Vintage? I'm like why I have 41mm conv. forks 2 piston brakes and a 4.5 rear wheel! What swingarm is that? It's off a 2016 R6 guy says I'm sorry what year? 2016, what part of vintage is 2016? Ok so I make a Vintage swingarm! Check the points and find after 8 rounds that I competed in 2 I'm 14th nationally, check how points work they count 10 rounds highest point getter is no.1 that's not gonna be me! So I decide I'm gonna race open 2stroke the only rule is must be a 2 stroke ?

Part 3,
Now that I'm racing new TZ's I need more than 86 rwhp, I go back to the Dyno and say Lane ( Driveline Performance) I need more HP! Ok what's the rules? must be 2 stroke! Ok here's a set of trenched cases, here's a 7 mil crank, here's a set of our 7 mil stock looking cylinder's and here's pistons a dome style stock looking head with removable domes! Perfect how much hp on pump gas 93 to 95 octane? At least 100 rwhp, I say perfect so tomorrow I'm gonna assemble the 7 mil take pics and get this bike on the Dyno Tuesday. I also have the R6 forks on it with radial brakes a new Ohlins shock is on it's way so we'll see how it goes, I have the hardest time posting pics but I'll get it ?

Hey Gus, welcome to the 350 side, nice track bike. If you were racing against TZ's at Kershaw you probably saw my buddy Darrell on a blue and green '09 TZ250, #99. He had a good scrap with Pat Mooney, there's a good video of that race on Pats Facebook page.

Posting pictures here...lol. It's a pain in the ass. Any other site, I can post a pic from my phone in about 10 seconds.

Here with Photobucket it took 10 minutes, now ..I don't have a clue nor the inclination. No one has been able to layout an "easy " way/method.

Go to an image upload site like tinypic.com (tiny pic works with my iPhone)
Select Choose File.
Navigate to the image on your computer or phone.
Select the image : (you can choose different sizes)
upload the image.
You will have to enter in a security code to prove you’re not a bot.
Once the photo is uploaded copy the image link with [img] at either end of it.
Paste the link in your post or reply here.

Good luck with your racing. Wish I did when I was younger.

Nice Gus,are those the Driveline assassin cylinders? I saw on the dyno readout it said assin and thought it might be so.
Good luck in your racing endeavors from a fellow old(ish) guy.
