My Blinged-Out RZ Project

Re: My Blinged-Out RZ Project
Machining up some pieces to reinforce the relay arm bracket.
Center stand mounts are already chopped. Haven't had that heavy-ass boat anchor, dragging on the ground, piece of crap center stand on the bike since 1985.
Purpose is to create more space for pipes.
Will chop the remaining bracket with a rounded bottom to look better with the dogbones.

This is going to make most "works bikes" look pedestrian. Are you a former race development guy for Yamaha, HRC, Muzzy, or Yoshimura?

I think when the bike's done, it won't be more flashy than my WR or SXZ bikes.
A lot of nice details, if you take a close look.
Then, there's the engine.
Same as the supermoto engine, I said I'm building a 421, but it's now a 378. This one also, not a 421. Not going larger than 66mm on the OEM cylinders. Planning on a +7mm crank. Think it adds up to 417cc.
Engine plans are going well, so far. Better than I could have hoped for.
Re: My Blinged-Out RZ Project
My current bore is 67.25 mm on stock cylinders, but the liner is thin as paper in some areas.
I'd still have a brand new pair of 66.5mm Woessner pistons if you need large ones ...

What I really like is your attention to detail. It's like watching a factory race team re-work a preexisting design or seeing a pre-production mock-up in the works. We are getting to see the concept, the design, and the execution instead of only seeing the end product. Keep up the good work!Smoker wrote:Thanks, much.brrrappp wrote:This is going to make most "works bikes" look pedestrian. Are you a former race development guy for Yamaha, HRC, Muzzy, or Yoshimura?

Trying to find someone experienced with two-tone powder coating.
Any ideas or recommendations would help a lot.
Best if I find someone in So Cal, but willing to ship parts, if I have to.

I'm happy to use the Woessner pistons, but I'm getting help from others. Not sure what their preference is, but I'll ask, and let you know ASAP.
Re: My Blinged-Out RZ Project
Going through boxes and gathering parts for the engine build.
Re: My Blinged-Out RZ Project
I'm thinking of Nikasil plating the cylinders if I go large.MK wrote:My current bore is 67.25 mm on stock cylinders, but the liner is thin as paper in some areas.

Read somewhere Woessner pistons are good with Nikasil.
Happy to use them. I'll send a PM.
Re: My Blinged-Out RZ Project
Well, since it's not a race bike- it may not be smart to go from stock bore to the largest piston size of 66.5mm (just in case something goes wrong). If I use 66mm pistons, at least there'll be one more bore size. Also thinking about forgetting the Nikasil plating, until the cylinders are on the final bore.
Planning to mod the OEM cylinders for larger (V-Force) reedcages.
Will need to open up the OEM cylinders and machine up new intake flanges for CR125 reedcages. New flanges will be welded to the cylinders.
Have to figure out new intake manifolds. Looks like the CR125 manifolds are offset/angled, but the RZ type are straight.
Not a great pic, but you can see the size of the CR125 reedcages compared to the RZ cylinder intakes.

Re: My Blinged-Out RZ Project
This is what I heard in my head when I saw all of your engine parts laid out like Christmas morning.....
Silver and gold
Silver and gold
Silver and gold
Ev'ryone wishes
For silver and gold
How do you measure
It's worth?
Just by the pleasure it
Gives here on Earth
Silver and gold
Silver and gold
Mean so much more
When I see
Silver
And gold decorations
On ev'ry Christmas tree
Silver, silver and gold
Silver, silver and gold
Silver and gold
Silver and gold
Silver and gold
Wise men brought gifts
To the mange I'm told
Mary was humble to see
Shepherds and kings
There on bended knees
It's silver and gold
Silver and gold
Feeling the world
With their lives
Silver and gold
How they shimmer
On ev'ry Christmas night
On ev'ry Christmas night

Holy shit!!
I've inspired a Moto-Christmas Carol.
At least, I heard music in my head.
Needs more titanium & carbon fiber.
Thank you for that, bro.

Loaded up the car.
Meeting Ed Erlenbach in the morning.
Making some flyweight bits for his LSR bike, and he's helping me with the streetfighter engine.
