best is to let the baffle end in the stinger with a nozzle, and then go wider again. that way the diemater or length of the stinger has no influence anymore.
if it runs, you can race it !

the nozzle is the bit that determines the flow in the stinger. if you make the real stinger about 1.5 times the diameter of the nozzle, anything that happens after the nozzle has no influence. If I make a pipe, I weld on a "stinger" of about 10cm long , about 2 times the diameter of the nozle. I turn the nozzle on the lath (length about 1/3rd of the , slide it in and than stick the real stinger behind it and pull everything together with 2 springs. This way you can take out the nozzle and change it's inner diameter to find the correct size to create the best back-pressure.
I'm certainly not an expert, I just read the right fora like the ESE topic on kiwibiker or the RSA topic on pitlane (the drawing comes from one of them).

I do understand your explanation about the "nozzle" and stinger diameter. I purchased 16 gauge 1 inch OD tubing for the stingers, but have not used it, yet. I know an excellent pipe manufacturer that uses this tubing for his stingers, so I thought it would be okay. I'll try to figure out the stinger diameter with your pipe info and see if my tubing will be close in diameter.

I'll read it as soon as I can. I don't think I can fabricate the exhausts myself, but it will help me understand how to design the pipes for this bike.
I'm afraid, because of clearance issues, I may not be able to use an ideal design or shape or size. I may have to design the pipe so that it fits the bike, and suffer the horsepower consequences. Hopefully, with info from you and Jan, I can see if there would be a large difference between up-pipes or down-pipes.

Started working on the gearchange lever, brake pedal, and footpegs, to make sure there are no clearance issues with the mockup downpipes.
Gearchange lever may be a problem, not sure yet. The gearchange shaft is pretty far forward. Looks like the custom lever might be very short. Might not have much leverage.
Spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for footpegs. I already bought footpegs, but I would need to make custom adapters. Plus, I think they would be good for another project. Not many pegs made to fit the SXV. Can modify CRF pegs to fit, but can mess up the finish. Ended up ordering Pivot Pegz. They're trick, and polished stainless, so I can have them gold TiN coated like the hardware.

Hard to get a good pic, but the new pegs look great on the bike.
They are extra wide, very thick, and unfortunately HEAVY.
I'm happy, though.

Been searching exhaust couplings because the pipes wrap around the frame (up-pipes or down-pipes), and the stingers will need to be separate from the pipes.
These are the coolest exhaust couplings I've found, so far. They aren't made for 1 inch pipes, so they would have to be custom made.

I like using anodized aluminum washers with titanium bolts, but remembered there are a few places I'd rather not.
Will be changing out the aluminum washers for titanium washers on the motor mounts, torque bars, rear sprocket and brake rotors.

Would like to make parts #2 and #7 out of .090" titanium sheet (2 sets).
They hold the kickstand springs to the kickstand and frame. Would look cool polished and gold TiN coated like the other hardware.
The holes are approx. 10mm and 6mm, for size reference. I could cut them by hand, but will look much better cut by machine.
