Hi RuZty,RuZty wrote:Ballpark idea on price? I really like the side cover and the oil pump cover. I reckon someone over there would be willing to offer up a standard stator cover if you offered them a deal on a carbon one. Do you use a UV resistant (non-yellowing) resin?
Long time no hear! hope you are ok?
A rough cost for the Carbon Stator cover is about £140 (ish) so sorry they are not cheap.
Then their are the cost's to make a new Std Yamaha type mold, about 8-9 hours plus materials about £25 - £30 GBP.
I need to look at it a bit more, as I didnt time how long it took to make as it was just for me, as I never intended to make any parts for anyone else. Also I would need to make a few, just to try to recover some of the cost's of making the new mold.
Sorry but I dont mean to sound negative.
Oil pump cover is a standing mold so about £60 GBP. (ish)
I use an Epoxy resin which dose contain UV filters which is designed for the manufacture of laminates such as those used in sail and surfboards which are to remain unpainted, and where a very clear finish is required.
I also clear coat with a 2 pack lacquer which claims to be UV resistant, however if over time it dose slightly yellow its an easy fix, just flat off & relacquer, but then nothing last's forever.
I hope this helps, however I think that these will be far too expensive for most people.
Best regards
Peddro.
