Yes Jon. I really do have a plan. The only thing slowing me down is a shortage of time and money.

And yes there is a forum member who could tell you all the details of the plan, but I don't think its Rory. :smt003

For now, I'll use my 2nd of 12 posts to give you a minor update on the project bike.
It's f*cking Purple.

Yesterday, I took the bike out for the first ride of the year.
The temp was only 10*C (50*F), so it was a bit cool, but damn it felt good to be riding again.
Bike ran awesome, and I'm pretty happy, But I think it looked better with the flat black paint.
I'm not real keen on the new color. :smt012

Lately, I've been working on a plan to do something new and different.

OK. I'm probably being overly optimistic, when I say that I have a Plan.

At the moment, all I really have is a bad idea, and a nice pair of stock 31K cylinders, with a 64.25 mm bore.

Things have been progressing at a snails pace.

I now have a not very well thought out plan, a pair of 31K cylinders, and 3 of these. :smt003

This is post 4 of 12, before I unveil my latest endeavor, but today was a great day, so I just had to make an update.
First off, I got a box from Arrow.

A big thank you to Arrow for providing a valuable service, and for the professional manor in which it was handled.

Image

Right after that, the courier handed me a box from Slinger.

A huge thank you to Slinger for the great work and excellent craftsmanship.

Before I get to the pics, I have a question that I want you to think about.

If a man has a plan, and it starts with 2 - 31K cylinders, 3 - EGT bushings, and 3 - Oil pumps, how many O-Ring heads does he get?

Sorry, but your answer is probably incorrect. Want to guess again?

Nope, you're still wrong. Last chance to change your mind.

OK, if that's your final answer.

:smt005 :smt005 :smt005

Cylinders - Check
Oil Pumps - Check
O-Ring Heads - Check

Still, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. Something important.
Late this afternoon, I finally realized what it was, and rectified the problem.
Just a little bit of cleaning and it'll be good to go. :smt003

Not all that stuff belongs to him. One of the oil pumps is mine.

Those lc heads look sweet as.
Glad you went through Arrow, the man is all class & such a pleasure to deal with not to mention the workmanship. Think I've got 5 or 6 pumps done by him so far.
Steve are all those rz heads spoken for?

Dave
The cable ties were to differentiate between the 3 pumps
1 of the pumps was for Hooligan
1 of my pumps had the min. stroke set to 10 thou (stock).
My second pump had the min. stroke set to 12 thou.

An update. OK. I'll use post #5 to fill you in on what's been happening.

Last week a 500 triple went back together in the shop.

Image

And a 750 triple came apart.

Image

As for the Purple project. Nothing has happened. Not a damn thing.

Well, I washed it once this year.
I lubed the chain once.
And I've checked the tire pressure a dozen times.

So far I've logged just over 2100 km (1300 miles) on it so far this year, and the bike has been running great.
The engine pulls strong, the radial tires grip great, and the FZR brakes are incredible.
Too bad it's still Purple.

Image

As for the New Plan, well I'm afraid it's on hold for a while due to a severe lack of funds.
I did get a couple more new parts in last month, but so far I have not even unwrapped them.
What's the point? Can't use them yet, so they may as well stay in their protective packaging.
I showed one of the parts to Rory.
I'm still trying to get the drool of the cellophane wrapper. [smilie=drool.gif]

On the previous page, I said this:
Off Road wrote: I can, in all honesty, without a word of a lie, say the following:

1. I'm getting a bit tired of riding a rat bike. No matter where I go, I always have the ugliest bike in the group.

2. Today, I spoke with the painter from California Colors, and got a quote on painting the bike.

Those statements were all 100% true.
And after saying that, a number of people got sidetracked about ugly bikes and new paint.

Do you folks even read what I write???

Immediately before making the above statement I said the following.
Off Road wrote:... you'll find that I'm the master of being vague and unclear. Or maybe I'm just a dick.

I'll post irrelevant pictures, or say obscure things just to keep people wondering what's up.

And sometimes, if I think I've said too much, I say something wild and outlandish, just
to throw everyone off the real plan.
So, how do you, the reader, know when I'm being honest and sincere, and when I'm just yanking your chain?

The only way you'll really know is if you're psychic.
If you're not, then you'll have to pay close attention to the pics I post, and have a excellent attention to detail.
I don't mean a good attention to detail, not even a great attention to detail.
You'll need an exceptional attention to detail, (because I post vague pictures).

Now lately, I've been posting pics of engine goodies. Cylinders. Oil Pumps. EGT Bushings. Old blown up engine.
Chances are that some of you have started to assume that I'm building a motor. :smt009

OK this time you're correct. I'm building new motor for my RZ.
But motors come in a bunch of different sizes and configurations.
What kind of motor have I got in mind?
Afraid I'm not ready to give out that info just yet, but I will post up another picture to give you a hint.

Mailed off the 2 LC O-Ring heads to a fellow forum member.
Now all I have is the 5 RZ O-Ring heads.
I'm keeping 2 of the heads for myself.
Rory said he wants 2 of them.
That still leaves one left over.

Think I might post it in the For Sale section.
If someone is looking for a Slinger O-Ring head, this is probably the only one that will be for sale this year,
because Slinger won't be doing any more until next Winter.

Sounds like I have a rare, hard to come by, part. Think I'll ask a lot of money for it. :smt003

Image

Final thoughts for the day.
I'm keeping 2 Oil Pumps and 2 O-Ring Heads.
Attention to detail.
