And I should have asked this before I started hacking.

Has anyone deflapped and opened the fuel filler hole on a US fuel tank?

How did you do it?
Pretty sure I used a chisel or drift. Just tapped on it all around, and it fell into the tank. Leaves a nice clean inner hole where it's pressed in.

To get the piece out, I think I reached in and squished it with a pliers, or maybe cut it with a dykes.

Was less than a 5 minute job.

Here's a pic for you:

Thanks Smoker! (I knew I should have asked first :smt009 )

That would be much quicker, simpler, cleaner, smarter....

Maybe I will "fix" this one now :smt047

I tried to pound that "extra" filler part out but didn't want to hit too hard. It didn't want to fall out easily so I left it as is.

The tank has been treated with Metal Rescue and looks fantastic inside.

Here is a before and after of the fuse block.

Lugs are crimped, soldered, then shrink tube.

There are 2 extra fuse positions so I'll probably add a whole bunch of LED accents and then a stereo system with subwoofer :smt044

Or maybe just an R6 fan. :smt045

I just searched amazon order history and found one that I returned and one I modified, did not use, so couldn't return. Did not find this one so I suspect it came from Oreillys or Autozone??? It's pretty nice and and actually has an oring seal in the lid.

This one is on 2 other bikes purchased from auto parts store. Sorry for the extra large pic.

I cringe at all those bare electrical connectors. Can't you find any heat shrink?
Red/White US '84, Spec II pipes, Y-boot w/K&N, Fox Shock, Mikuni carbs?

I bought this china tach years and years ago. I wasn't too sure I would use it but got it temporarily wired up and it actually looks pretty good, better than I thought it would. I have to decide if I want to complete the install of the thing or splurge on another KOSO. :smt017

Yes, we will see.

Does anyone know where I can pick up a tach signal on the RZ350? For a US 84 or 85 bike.

I need to test this unit on a running bike before I go through the effort of permanently installing it on this bike.

Thanks.

I followed smurphs how to for an R1 gauge cluster.

Tachometer
Find the W/G wire that comes out of the wiring harnes from the flywheel on the RZ. There is a connector with both W/R and W/G wires right where it joins the main harness.
Splice into the W/G wire and connect it to the Y/B wire on the R1 harness.

where you get them fork seals dust boots? I ordered the regular ones from all balls (shit balls) and they came with the us version witch I have installed anyway and kinda works as well but don't look as good.

got a Canadian 85 as well and rebuilding it, not to your standards just as a lighweight functional beater bike

good job btw

This bike has FZR forks.

If you purchased parts for a stock US RZ350 you will get the taller dust boots that came on these bikes.

Hoping to get back to this project (again) after another lull.

Oil lines hooked up.
