Ooh, now thats interesting. Thanks Dave.

My other option is to have the tank pro cleared, but I cant think they would like the job since i didnt use them for the whole work of course.

Another nice warm day (30deg) with very low humidity (<30%) means I couldnt ignore the top coats needed on the nose cone and the (RGV) mudguard, they are now baking in the garage with the tank :)

So... sanded any runs or dust and then flatted out the whole job, then after a bit of masking blew them over with the tins.

Again not a bad finish from a spraycan, but of course I will still need to flat these and polish them, tho I will probably clear all the panels, I'm starting to think I might want this bike to look 'wet', maybe thats a bridge too far... we'll see.

Should also say that Ive been using a Pro-Choice Sprayers half mask with A1 and P2 filters and while nose up to the job you cant smell anything even after unloading a whole can on something. Amazing technology and saves you from braindamage etc. comfy mask too... best ive ever worn.

Pretty amazing that you're using cans, that KBS clear will be perfect for these.
Good to read you're using a quality mask.I use one even while sand blasting, cant take any chances these daze.....

Thanks mate! yeah I also use a new disposable mask for each blasting session, but then my small cabinet is pretty 'leaky' when it comes oto dust even with my shop vac on full 'extract' mode. :/

Today a pair of Motobatt MB5.5U batteries landed, one for this bike and one for the LC. The new ones have removable terminals and the ability to put them on either side of the battery, useful for them selling these as they can cover more fitments with less batteries, but also very useful for those of us running a lot of electrics on our machines as well, as you get an extra place to add both + and - connections. The terminals also offer two screw mounts for cables as well.

Nice progress John you have been busy. Nice work on the pipes and the paint, nothing wrong with spray can if you take in prep, and clean up with a can is zero. The tank and tail look very good.
I am a fan of KBS products.
I jumped on the link and that clear coat that LB backs looks to be a miracle product. I'm not a painter but id have a test panel ready to test the diamond clear over the base you have layed down.
If KBS did a range of colour sprays including the clear, with the claims they make, I would never start my compressor again.
The satin high temp black product they advertise looks good for pipes engine cases as well.
Cant wait to see her in all her glory.

Thanks Rich. Ive actually got, but not yet tried, the KBS clear and also the exhaust paint so will have a spray with those and report back when I get some time, probably in the Spring. I will defo be testing the clear over the paint, im hopeful that after a few months of drying that the worst of the thinners is out of the can paint. I did noticed that the tank has a bit of pulling apart in the top coat which i can only think is it dried too fast. Its easy to sand it out and stick a bit more on, the tail actually had a small reaction, again a simple fix and worth redoing the part that needs work, and I did the tail sanding today in readiness.

I really dont know when this project will get more work done, Im more 'in love' with the 2 LC projects at the mo, but time is a hard resource this time of year with so much else going on. :(

With your lecky skills I'm sure you could make up a simple drying box/ room wired up say with one of those big tennis court lights and bake / speed up the drying process
I take it your waiting/ itching to lay the second colour down maybe a 31 k red?
An not one but 2 Lcs, Sydney sounds like Canada these days

LOL imagine the power bill!!

No this bike will be all white... One of the reasons I chose the decals I did, it was a very simple paint job ;)

With the current temps Syd feels like Canada to be honest... ;) :D

Ok, well not 2 new LCs... The LC421 and then the resto LC... the resto LC will use the 421s frame tho, that means the 421 has to totally come apart to relinquish its spine for the project, it will have a new-to-it frame slipped back in of course plus some other work done at the same time. Im actually really looking forward to doing that work, it will be a hell of a day just to have the 421 looking like it did before the strip, but it will be worth it as I have a matching engine for the frame and everyone loves matching numbers for a resto. :)

Doh, I thought you'd picked up another stock LC, forgot the 421.
I'd like to pull my LC 421 down just to anodize axle bolts and adjusters engine mount bolts, brake caliper bolts etc, all the little things I missed during the build. With the new rearsets, the eye in now drawn to imperfections that were once un-noticed.
Look forward to the allwight RZ.
