Oil starvation from being vertical scuffing crank bearings.

I quite like those myself, excellent choice. I'd love to hear how you like it compared to the RZ on the same roads once you get it broken in and are comfortable with it.

Yamaha has been making some very nice useful bikes lately. Enjoy.

Rutzy,
I did do a short back to back ride comparison last weekend. The RZ cuts through corners like butter and definitely feels the 100 lbs. lighter that it is. The XSR has amazing power and torque. And still carves the corners great too. My last new big bore road bike was a 98 Suzuki RF 900. I just been riding the RZ since then and forgot how much fun all that extra power is!! :smt003

I just have to get over the feeling that I'm cheating on the RZ whenever I ride the XSR now. :smt002

I've been looking at new exhaust pipes for the XSR lately. I'm not really a fan of most of the shorty exhaust's they have for the bike. They either stick out at a weird angle or just don't look right to me.
I finally found a pic on the web of a Yoshimura pipe I liked...old school mid-high style. After doing some research I found out it was a Japanese model. I found it listed on the https://japan.webike.net/ site. I ordered it up, and it showed up about 5 days later. It really looks like some quality craftsman ship went into building these pipes. Beautiful welds and it fit right up like it should! :smt023 The only thing that slowed me down a little was that all the instructions were in Japanese. :smt003
Anyway, I love the way it looks on the bike and it sounds great too. Not too loud and has a nice growl to it. I plan on having the ECU flashed by https://2wheeldynoworks.com/ this summer.

Here's a few pics,

Charlie

Looks like a great choice for a very nice upgrade!!!

But one thing you mentioned does not compute at all.

"instructions"

It's as if you were actually going to read them? That's weird. :smt037

Hopefully there was no requirement for hammers, files, drills, etc., fitting it up.

I added few more items to the XSR in the last few weeks. And had some great weather this weekend to enjoy riding it. :smt023
Also just hit 600 miles so I can get its first service done and be ready to rip........even more!! :smt003

A couple pics of the bikes after a good washing.

Installed a MotoDemic Dart screen. Took me a long time to find just the right one I wanted for the bike.

Also installed an old Garmin Navigation unit I had laying around for the longer trips.

Here's some pics from this weekend's riding.

Some nice mods!

The new pipe is very nice, but I have to be honest.

The shorter pipe looked more bad ass. Not the whole bulky pipe, just the short end barely sticking out.

Also, I wouldn't install a free-flowing pipe without the ECU flash, or Dynojet 5. Highly doubt the engine will be running right with the pipe change.

Just my opinion. Keep up the good work! :smt023

Great pics Charlie!

You say you like the weather down here. I like the green up there (although you pay the price with rain). We are about 50% and closing on all of the hills turning brown. :smt012

I'm glad to see you're enjoying that new bike. My son is about ready to get a new steed after his crash last fall. I have him convinced on FZ9. Is the engine on your bike the same exact engine? The more I look at yours the more I like it. :smt007

And as you know don't neglect that RZ. They're very temperamental when left unloved. :smt042
