A Pretty Cool CB550

#1 Post by Off Road » Sat Sep 25, 2021 1:02 am

Some of you are probably calling bullshit, because it’s pretty much impossible to make a CB550 look cool.

Somebody here in town decided give it a try, so he took a Frame, a Motor, a set of Kehien CR carbs, and a huge pile of cash,
down to a local fabricator and said “Build me a one of a kind, Café’ Racer / Street Fighter / Bar Hopper”.

The custom exhaust is a work of art and it sounds awesome.
The bar-end turn signals and the flush mount LED taillight/turn signal, give the bike a clean look,
but on the street they’re pretty much useless, and probably not legal.

The bike made an arm-stretching 35 HP on the dyno, but it sounded like it was making 135 HP. :smt003

Overall, I like the look, and certainly admire the craftsmanship that went into building it.
The headlight’s not my favorite part, but the single sided swing-arm is pretty cool, and I love the spoked front wheel with the massive brakes.
Ya. I’d ride this.

The workmanship appears to be top-notch. Lots of effort there. I agree the SSS is really cool and quite unique especially with those wire spoke wheels.

And I'm sure loud as heck. I would love to hear it.

I would do something other than flat gray for the paintwork but to each his own.

Love that exhaust work!

also not keen on the headlight or the 'shiny primer' paintwork.

I had a CB550 with a stage 1 Yoshimura camshaft kit and pipe in the 80s. It wasn't as fast as it sounded but would turn 12 grand and it was a lot of fun to ride. The sound was incredible though.

CBs are just as cool as any RZ is.
There cooler in a retro way no doubt.

That's a cool lil ride....

if I had my wish from that area it's a similar build with a Kawasaki triple but I prefer a standard swing arms in

That is sweet though other than some paint I wouldn't change many things

I don't much like it, but I do admire the fabrication work. The exhaust, in particular, is a work of art. I imagine that 35 hp can just about shred the skinny rear tire.

I like it a lot and while I usually love spoked wheels the rear isnt doing it for me. Maybe it's the single sided swinger with spoked wheel.
No matter super cool bike.

<Whiney voice> The rear tire is too big, waste of hp. Wah.
