Thanks to all well wishing two-strokers!

It happened Memorial day around 8:15 pm.

My typing is way fucked up, but I use spell check and keep retyping.

I absolutely have a huge concussion injury.

YOU DIDNT HAVE TO GO AND DO IT...YOU CRAZY BASTARD!
Im glad your okay!
My brother was killed by a driveway accident, drunk driver got him, witnesses said he stood up took off his helmet took a few steps then died right there. It doesnt take much..yes your still lucky, but anyone who makes it home these days is. Hope your recovery is speedy without any complications and you can return to the thing you love
Best wishes.... you crazy dude :-)

At the time of the crash, I don't think it was because of speed.

I was in the commuter mode, riding back from a store. I drive the same route about 6 times a year.

I believe the crash was across the street from a car dealership, so hopefully I can see some video.

I'm probably more focused when I'm riding fast. :smt003

Not that much damage to the bike, unless the forks or frame is bent. The titanium pipe and muffler took a hit, though - that's gonna hurt, too. Unfortunately, hand guards and axle sliders were not on at the time of the crash.

I should be able to get pics this weekend.

wow Pete..... I'm amazed at your clarity of mind and boyant attitude you r currently expressing considering the thrashing you undesevingly received. The situation u decribed is almost like a sucker punch. Ya, rehab, - I recall that being the daubting bit but necessary to getting back to "normal". B praying the swelling eases off quick and ur meds will keep u away ahead of the pain curve. Suspect your on a bunch of IV anti-infamitories/pain killers for sleep and ease of healing - Scott

Sounds like you already recover :-)

Reminds me of a crash I had in 1989.
Lost the front wheel on a "casual" ride in the Harz mounrtains and somehow crossed the guard rail ending up some 30 m down a hillside full of trees. Ok, after hitting the rail there was no conscious memory.
Actually can't remember how I got up to the road, but they found me aside the road.

When consciousness returned first test was if all the arms and legs are in place and functional.
Second one was to ask the guys around what's with the bike :-)
Well they didn't let me look as I had an open skull fracture on the forehead.
Fortunately not a big thing - I was back on a bike just a few weeks later.

The bike had less luck. Hit a pole of the guard rail and pretty much everything was bend.
Bye

How can I have an abrasion on my shoulder when there's hardly a mark on the jacket?? :smt017

The bruising, I understand.

Thanks for making me laugh! :smt005

Here's the helmet. Joe Rocket Speedmaster Carbon Fiber. Not sure if I'll get another, or try something different. I love this helmet, but my confidence is now low for crash protection. Seems like the helmet wasn't damaged so bad - but my head was.

I need a carbon helmet for lightness, because my neck is also fucked up. I think lighter helmets provide less protection, in general. Also, I think that the carbon doesn't crack or crush like fiberglass. I think carbon transmits a lot more force, instead of dissipating it.

I noticed on my helmet there are deep scratches in 2 directions 90 degrees (perpindicular) to each other.

Sliding and spinning around on your head just how I like to do it too.
Those 'tards bring me crazy luck as well, idk if it's just hard to see/hear or what but cagers have scared me more than my abilities ever have.

When you're wearing glasses I found this one very suitable:
http://www.polo-motorrad.de/de/vision-r.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's got an internal sun visor and still at an affordable price (payed 250 Eur last year).
Other suitable Shoei or Schuberth would have been twice that rate.
