Alan Carter has a new book out.

#1 Post by hondaror » Tue Dec 13, 2016 9:18 pm

Anyone who might be interested, I have been chatting with Alan Carter. I ordered his limited print book from him today. He's a great guy. He's been sending me pics of himself over his career. The book is 25 pounds + shipping. Google Alan Carter or search for him on FaceBook. I can't wait to get my copy. Should be a great read.

I had a poster of him on a 250 on my wall about 35 years ago. Probably still have it rolled up somewhere.

That could be a little more information than we needed to know :smt003 "Not that there's anything wrong with that" whatever you choose to do in the privacy of your own home. :smt002

Ah, Questo, I have a full size, white panel van with no cargo windows. A buddy just gave me a shirt last week that says..."Just get in the van" with a candy lolly pop pictured. You have taken editing liberties, but read into it what you will. It just goes to show where our minds may wander on a motorcycle forum. Keep the rubber side down! Watch it! Watch it! Lol

The "Van Trap" is no joke. I've had several work related white F250 & 350 & Astrovans..let me tell you, while sitting in a parking lot doing computer/paperwork or just eating lunch, More often than not women take a (wide detour )away from a van..I'm being totally truthful..its humorous but sometimes was just plain embarrassing, to think that your being looked at & judged or feared just due to the fact there vans. In addition all the vans were very clean even w custom wheels..I totally get it though, from a womans perspective, theres just way too many bad dudes in this world eager & willing to harm women. If I were in their position, I'd certainlly judge a book by its cover...lol

A stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet.

Get in the van.

Well, I finished the book. His brother was 2 time British Speedway Champion King Kenny Carter, who died tragically back in the eighties. The book is a gripping read. I don't read books, but anyone who loves racing, motorcycles, or life stories should read this puppy.
We have bantered back and forth over the web and I've promised to pay for a pint or two the next time I'm in Europe. He's up for it!
The title is Light in the Darkness. It's a great account of his life in the GP250 scene, and his 3+ years in the USA. He was Rainey's team mate with the first Kenny Roberts Marlboro team. Raced Daytona's single class in '94 and won that on a Ducati.
The book was first released in 2011.
