Bringing a bike into the US?

#1 Post by Zombie » Mon Dec 19, 2016 8:30 pm

If I drive up to Canada to buy a motorcycle, how would I go about bringing it back?

In parts?
In a crate?
Ride it on in?
????

2 strokes bikes are now declared National Treasure and can't be exported without a permission from the prime minister's office .

It just needs to be at least 25 YO. Look on the US Customs Web site.

I bought an '88RZ 350 across about 3 years ago. Easy as can be.

I brought a 90 RZ350 in in 2008 so it was 18 yrs old at the time. I had it shipped and hired a customs agent to handle all the paperwork as recommended by the seller who had sold a lot of his collection of old 2 strokes to US buyers. Unfortunately, the truck it was on was randomly selected for unloading at the border which added another $275 to the total cost. Other than the expense, it was easy. It added $1275 to the cost of the bike. [emoji15]☹️

I think our current PM would give them away and add the disposal cost to our taxes. :smt002

At least your PM is a nice guy not like our iron lady or that cowboy south of your border.
