Drone Filming

#1 Post by LC Cnd » Sun Dec 25, 2016 8:15 pm

Has anyone done any drone shots while riding? I ask because Santa brought me a drone with that possible capability. I realize there are a lot of techical/legal issues to study as a newbie. I won't be driving near an airport to be sure.

I did see a drone that was coming on the market that would follow you. That would be cool, does yours do that?

Some idiot stuck a huge drone up over my house, sounded like a helicopter and the neighbours and I were wondering if we could 'shoot' it down. One of them went and found the guy and 'had a word' and he went home. Said he 'was just practicing flying it'. hmm...

I reckon Id quite like a small drone to follow me out n about, like a dash can for your whole world etc. I see a lot of bizarre things on my travels, id love to share them LOL

Like the prize bit (lol). Yep, operates off my iPhone and will follow me like an angle on my shoulder appearently - interestingly the drone is called a Parrot (Arr). When the weather permits, I'll start practicing although I can fly in the house.

Suspect I'm going to have to have a "camera 1" operate the drone whilst I drive Elsie. French designed. The stock battery has a very short flight time (15 min). Had my inaugural 1st flight yesterday. Very stable & I can practice until Spring. Be interesting to see how it films on the road riding. Will post on ride thread if I don't crash and burn 1st. Imagine it will take several takes & and a battery upgrade. Gunna be a hoot.

I got a drone this year they are awesome, I was fucking around last week to see how high it would go.....500m. On a lot of drones you have a "follow me" function so you can set the height and distance for it to follow you I think that would be hard on a bike lol, I got it to do some promotional video's following the boat this summer with our new twin turbo 468 engine we are testing this year.

This one is going up, only figured out how to stop it spinning once I finished filming, so sorry if ya feel sick lol.

Curious how long your battery lasts. Be interesting flight to observe surfers on Lawrence beach. Any idea what your drone's top speed is?

53 mph is the quickest I've seen on the screen but there was a little tale wind :smt002 , as for battery life the cold weather does effect it quite a bit. At -10*c I tend to get between 18-20 mins of run time before it alarms a low battery, only got it in October so not sure in warmer weather. The manual says 25 mins but we'll see lol.

When I pan around to the sea you can see Three Fathom Harbour and Lawrence Town beach is only 4 clicks down the road so quite close to me really.

I will be doing some droning down there in the summer as one of my customers does wave jumping https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVi_flNQsaw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; at Lawrence town and he wants me to film him. The guy is insane..... last year we had to remove the engine three times to replace his engine mounts lol
