That's one race I have no nuts for. Always tough to watch. Would never want to even attempt it. Insane!

I always wondered why the rotaries don't use chambers. They're rotor (piston :smt017 ) ported engines w/o valves.

Go there and ride the course. You will be shocked and amazed that anyone would even consider racing there. It is wicked dangerous. Good fun but v dangerous.

30 years ago, I used to watch all the Joey Dunlop footage that I could get my hands on. I couldn't figure out why anyone would want to do that. Just amazing.

It's no more dangerous than riding fast on any public road. Which many of us do that regularly. The only difference is you die faster at 200 than 100.

Yeah, but when you see those high speed crashes, deaths, don't you wonder why? I pick my places to open things up. At that race it's balls to the wall, everywhere. Not too friendly in so many places.

Nope. I understand the reasoning. It's the ultimate motorcycle racing challenge. Memorizing a 37 mile lap and setting about using that knowledge to beat the clock. It's a task that overwhelms many and costs more than a few. There are people who trundle through life wondering what's missing and those who seek the missing parts. It's your choice.

Not to mention it's more than the Senior TT. There are many races during the TT. And the shorter course events during the year plus the Classic TT. I would love to compete at The Isle of Man. I've gone as far as seeing what class my RZ (or Tuono) would fit into. Regrettably my finances are not up to the task. Moving to Ireland or UK would be the first move and a difficult one at that. In the end I'd rather die at speed on a race bike than in front of a TV on the couch. We all die the method is something we can influence. Memories are one thing only time can take. Stock up.

You have many good points. My nuts are punie. I still want to continue racing and developing a good RZ for myself. Share my findings, if I continue to survive.

They interviewed James Hillier after the Senior in 2016 and he was visibly shaken, like he'd just seen his own ghost. He said something to the effect of "that was was too much..", but still came back and did it again this year.

All you guys who want to go, just do it! Bucket list. I'm not going, don't even have any desire to go watch.
