Snagged a set of FPPs
My Toomeys are in dire straights and in need of some dent removal and crack repair. I was lucky and found these very cheap. I am told that FPP and Toomey are very simiilar performance wise. These have some damage too but not as bad as mine. I bought them to use while I get my Toomeys fixed....They are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Have anyone here ever run a set?

Yeah I'd repack the cans before fitting. They are similar to the Toomeys in delivery and output.

Thanks for the info. My Toomeys were loud too until I repacked the cans like you said. Will do. Good old UPS sent notice just now that the delivery for today has been rescheduled. They are coming out of Delaware so they should be here in a day or two...

Re: Snagged a set of FPPs
My dear friend Doug Bell who is 75 years young and tough as a pine knot made a patch and we couldn't get a bead to run to save us. He said dirty metal was the culprit even though I scrubbed the can inside and out in the parts washer so we tacked the patch at four corners and I headed home to JB weld the patch and seal the hole.

24 hours later no more hole. Not pretty but not noticeable when installed. Leak checked in a bucket of water with low pressure air. No leaks.

Re: Snagged a set of FPPs
Installation was easy as the Toomey flanges are the same as FPP. I had to use the FPP spring as the perch is different...
I took the carbon fiber look tape and FPP remnants of the decals off. Then I sanded starting at 600 and worked my way to 2000 grit wet or dry tri-mi and then polished with red, then white rouge.
Initial riding impression ( only 10 miles round trip to town and back).
Maybe a bit less right off idle but quicker from 7000 to rev limiter at 10.5.
Need more seat time but farm work intervened. Not bad for $208 shipped and now I can fix my Toomeys at my leisure. The exhaust tone is quieter and deeper as well.

Re: Snagged a set of FPPs
I got my farm chores for today before work done early and was able to fit in a 30 mile ride.... Seat of the pants the FPPs do everything as good or better than the Toomeys except taking off from a dead stop. The FPPs require more revs to move off...

Looks like they go good at upper rpm.
