Oil, oh no!

#1 Post by hondaror » Fri Jul 20, 2018 2:07 am

Ok, so I'm commuting on the white rocket, with DG pipes and K&N pods. The thing is a blast to ride with the valves jammed wide open. There is virtually nothing down low.
What I'm dying to know, is what kind of oil is in the injector tank? It smells awesome! I'm running what was in there, before I add my Motul, my poison of choice at the moment. The smell is really familiar, but I'm not sure what it is. It smells like the track. Any ideas where I can get a sample analyzed to let me know what I'm running? Prefer somewhere in Canada. Does anyone who frequented Shannonville know what most of the two stroke guys were burning back in the '80s?

This smells like Castrol, or Yamalube R, very sweet. I'm not sure though.

not sure any castor oil I have seen should be used in the injector tank though... thought they were premix only

Maxima 927? I run it in my lawnmower, subconsciously makes cutting the grass less of a chore. Premix only, but I recall Roger (Wicked) saying he ran it in the tank.

Yes, Castor bean oil. Not Castrol (Maybe they still sell a castor base). Same as what you are describing. Sweet. Likely not meant for injector oil like comment above but I don't know. I have only run in vintage race bikes before.

As much as I dislike using Wikipedia:

klotz injector oil is pretty sweet smelling. Almost floral. I use it, and like it a lot. It's red.

going to use the benoil in the new premix bike.

Shit, I run Klotz R50 in my RZ, and all 3 of my buddies Yamaha Zumas, and they all still use the injector pump. No problems to date. And yes, it smells awesome
