i wonder how much frame sliders would have mitigated the damage .
my concern is they might dig in and bend something rather than just slide to an eventual stop.
i guess they are of most use in a low speed car park tip over.

Look close at the parking job by the Subaru :smt009

He's going to have a long day. This was about a half mile from the Observatory. He lost control, took out a turn sign, and somehow the car did not go further down the embankment. He was with a bro and help was on the way. BTW, last weekend going back to Livermore on Mines, a large group of these Subarus were going up toward The Junction cutting blind corners a bit recklessly. I had to pull over and wait for them to go thru so as to not get taken out by one of them. Bad Karma perhaps :smt017

I have a '17 WRX. They handle very well but are intolerant of a heavy hand. They will push (understeer) bad if you coast into a corner off the throttle. Honestly with the electronics and AWD I don't see how someone could do that on a dry road. I drive mine like a madman in the rain here in the mountains and the car covers my ass with aplomb. If yer not careful I guess it could lead to very bad habits.
There is only one difference between a madman and me. The madman thinks he is sane. I know I am mad.

Just use the "youtube" button. [youtube][/youtube]

Then insert the video ID which is the last string of letters/numbers after the equal sign.

Should work like this... :smt041

Thanks Charlie! One of these days I will get it (maybe).

Sunday afternoon took the fat bike up Mines to The Junction for the first time with my daughter on the back.

It was a good ride!

How's porky treating you Ken?

I love that Honda rider, two bike lengths from the stop sign and he still doesn't have his feet up. Not even close!

Wow photobucket really wiped out my thread :smt013

Maybe I'll start a separate thread with imgur till that site changes their policies :smt009

I think I will just continue this thread rather than start a new one. Although all the photo bucket photos will be forever lost, and unfortunately the photo journalism associated like "the deer and the fish story" :smt022 , there is still some extremely valuable content :smt005 , i.e., like YouTube videos.

So yes, I am switching to imgur for now, but how long before they do the same thing as photo bucket?

Regarding the photo bucket debacle, I am not surprised that they would switch to "paid" third-party hosting. However, the $399 fee was over the top. I may have paid $50 annually or something like that, but not $399. They probably have gotten a few subscribers, but IMO they would've gotten 10 times or 100 times more if they would've made the fee reasonable. I believe it's too late now, people have been chased off and are angry about this ransom. Too bad for them. I wonder if photo bucket will survive?

Here's a question for you smart people, why the fuck can we just buy a domain to host our own photos that has all the code to embed them in forum posts? Hmmm, why? That's what I want.

Here are imgur posting instructions from an imjur forum post:

This actually already exists! Imgur should really make light of this as a more obvious feature!

If you take your image URL and add a specific letter to the end of it, it will alter the size for you

Take your URL of an image such as http://i.imgur.com/7iNNs3Th.jpg2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; then add a specific letter to the end of it before the .jpg!

I guess this isn't too well known!

s = Small Square (90×90)
b = Big Square (160×160)
t = Small Thumbnail (160×160)
m = Thumbnail (320×320)
l = Thumbnail (640×640)
h = Thumbnail (1024×1024)

As far as I can tell, it still retains the aspect ratio, so it won't make your stuff square, just shrink it till one both of the sizes are at, or below, the 1024x1024 values etc.

In my own words here's what that means:

Copy the “BBCode (message boards & forums)”. In other words click the blue “Copy” button just below and to the right of this.

Paste it into your forum post. It will look like this but will have Image at the rear of the URL.

http://i.imgur.com/tRWWmIt.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Using the secret code from above add a single letter like this, again it will have Image at the rear of the URL.

In this case I added the letter “h” = Thumbnail (1024×1024)

http://i.imgur.com/tRWWmIth.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yes, it's that simple. Not too bad.

What I haven't figured out yet in imgur is setting up a file structure. I had done with photo bucket.

For example

Folder - RZ500
>Sub Folder – Engine
>Sub Folder – Electrical
>Sub Folder – Powder Coat
Etc.

Has anybody done this in imgur?

Here is an example using the instructions from above:

This sucks!!! :smt012

It does allow you to create albums, but haven't tried an album within an album yet.

Looks like I need to fix my avatar too.. :smt024
