New forum updates

#1 Post by rztom » Sat Aug 20, 2005 3:15 pm

Hey everyone -

I've now opened up this forum for avatars, PM (personal messaging) and Email (click an email button to send email to another poster in a forum thread). Sorry it took me so long to add these features...

Use the PM and Email features to quickly communicate with other forum members "offline."

Avatars must be 100x100 pixels and be hosted off-site, so find a place to host your avatar, add the URL to it in your profile, and let's start adding some "character" to this forum... !!

It's the picture that shows up under our user names. My avatar is Darby Daemon, the little devil that's an angel. The image is just a JPEG that is of a certain size. You load it via you profile (where it also gives the max size that the image can be).

Thanks Smurph, if I have the energy I would love to use some more of the functions here! If you have the time explain to me how to take a picture off the www and use it. I might like to put a picture of my old RZ but I will have to scan it from a picture and that might not look good.

I notice that some avatar pictures are larger than the 80 X 80 size constraints. Some MUCH larger. What's up with that? No big deal either way, just wondering.

I enjoy this site. Many thanks for hosting it! :smt023

AVATARS

#10 Post by rz93 » Sun May 20, 2012 11:43 pm

No, it's mostly that people like myself are not that computer literate to do it right and need a little help. I tried using Picasa as a site to host my avatar but when I submit I get a message that the URL is not acceptable or something like that. My picture is bigger and I can't make it smaller on the site that it is located on before submitting it. I can resize it on Picase, but the URL is then rejected. Any help would sure be appreciated. I have the coolest pic and want to use it!!

PM me the URL that your picture hosting site is providing and I'll have a look to see what the issue is... :smt004
