New Elsie fuse box confusing

#1 Post by LC Cnd » Sat Apr 18, 2015 6:09 pm

While checking the fuses, fuse holder began to split apart - brittle. Found used holders from a junked XS1100 fuse box- it fell apart. The whole battery harness is mucked up with odd soldering (yish). Invested in a new fuse box but there is no 8 peg wire connector on the original harness according to the manuel under harness(s) diagrams. So, where is the best place to tuck the new connector without being pinched by the mono-shock, does anyone have a picture of a proper job of it?

Maybe try a different fusebox? Snip and rejoin connectors and keep the big one as is.

Nice bladed fuse set up. My problem is the toggle that connects behind the fuse box to the wiring harness. The 8 toggled wires are too short to move elsewhere and currently pinched between the rectifier and rear shock spring. 1st time I fitted in toggle, 2 wire popped from the toggle due to stretching. First time to have a Yambit part do this. I removed the rear fender to see what's pinching it to the rear shock as noted in the photo. Shock removed. Think I will dismantle the toggle, match each wire up with a thin round linear connector and shrink wrap each to one save space in that area - hopefully. Looking at the service manual cable routing diagrams, no such toggle exists. Now I know why.

That was what I was going to suggest. Yes you'll have 8 splices, but you can make it as long as you need and still keep it weather proof.
