Missing center tank rubber support Rd350 F2 1990

#1 Post by kjellz » Sat Apr 14, 2018 5:56 am

Hi
As the photo indicates theres seems to be missing some sort of peg or pin that will locate the center under tank rubber support?
Can anyone help me find out what is missing?
I have found the rubber damper is as a spare part, but the peg seems not to be. Is it glued on? What material and dimension should it be in case I can replicate it?
- Previous owner tried to mend it by adding some rubber foam it seems.

Thanks for any input.

Hi: there is a steel short pipe with two rubber stoppers at the ends. Those stoppers engage the U-slots on either side of the tank center tunnel. Your frame is missing that pipe. It is a weld job.

86-90 tank are supported on each side by a small bracket that bolt to the frame , look just under the left spark plug wire and you can see where the tank bolt . Nothing is missing on your frame .

You are missing a post, yes. I can't remember if it's welded, but I think it is.

If you look at the bottom of the tank, it looks like a fork. The post sticks up from the frame, has a rubber mount.

Take a look here, zoom in to this frame.

I see it now, its an 86-on model, yes you're still missing something and its a small internally threaded post on my frame. I guess Im also missing the bits that screw to it just like you are, damn the 86-on model tank fixings are complicated! :(

Thanks, thats what I was looking for.
Need to get hold of one of those rubber things next. Tempted to just drill through and tap for fixing it...

Cheers

That would work I think if youve enough steel left to get a good fixing.
