rear brake master cylinder alternatives??

#1 Post by graham heise » Thu Apr 09, 2020 2:41 am

g'day. Wondering if anyone has swapped rz rear brake master cylinder to an alternative? looks like and R1 or maybe xt master cylinder would fit?
I have just stripped my rz M/C, it will need a rebuild kit but before i order one i thought i'd ask the question to see if an alternative M/C can be used?

Have a spare here if needed I can break from rear setup. In Canada but sure we could get it down there cheap enough. No clue on alternatives.

fitted to lots of yams of the era, but easy to rebuild and the kit is good value from yam overseas, not an Aussei dealer o course.

I used an FZR 400 one.
It's identical to the RZ, just the bolt needs to be cut a small amount if I remember right.

Thanks for the advice guys. Martins comment pricked my ears. I have a fzr400 3tj sp frame in my back shed that has the original rear brake mc still on it. i have serviced and painted it, bolts up the same and i didn't have to go out for it. thanks Gents.

The earlier R6 used a Brembo one that looked identical, you had to slot the top hole by about 1mm to get it to be a direct fit.
