GSXR1100K

Post by tacky1 »

Picked up this one for free, Neighbor was going to dump it and asked if I wanted it, I took it in, Stripped the carbs, bottle fed some juice and jumped it and it fired up and ran perfect, So it was worth saving, Removed the old lodger, he looked a little frazzled TBH.. :P
Stripped it down to the last nut bolt as everything was either seized or rusted or corroded..... Powdercoated all the metals, not worth the time trying to restore it, All new nuts/bolts, Mix of stainless and Titanium, New for leg stanctions as the old ones were rusted, New seals, oil and springs, head race bearings, Rear end got a BMW 1000RR shock, fits straight in and works perfectly, I replaced all the bearings on the bike, Wheels, swingarm, suspension linkages etc etc etc....
Fitted some bars and cut and lengthened all the wiring so I could get it all under the seat, Fitted some RS38 flatslides with some bellmouths, Dyna coils. new oil, plugs filter etc. All new paint by my painter, loving the new paint, new seat cover and seat pad to match.
The usual after that, stripped and rebuilt all the calipers, new pads, new brake and clutch lines,
As we all now on this forum, No such thing as a free bike :)

She’s a fun one to ride. Especially with the bars on it. Hard to keep the front on the tar 😂👍

"Fresh Oil" sign behind the bike is kind of funny.
Got this thing off the scrap heap, put in some "fresh oil" and a splash of gas and she's a runna!

Really nice work!

BTW, what kind of mummified lodger is that? Seems to have some impressive jaws and chompers.

That is an amazing transformation. I would have walked away from that poor thing, but you have given it new life and a facelift to boot. Just awesome.
