It will have a series of switches on the base of it
They are either on or off, no computer needed
There are sequences somewhere online, or email the maker at Two Stroke Racelab, there is a picture of an 86 setting
And yes it will work on an 84, probably all models I’d say

Yes , it has a row of on/off switches on the bottom. There is a sheet with it which shows the various combinations.

Dip switches. I had him modify one for me several years ago. If needed, I can take a pic of the switch position directions and what it does.

Here’s the pic of the chart showing dip switch positions and the variation of what it can do

Does the programmer plug into a stock harness on my 1985 RZ?

Nick installs a series of dip switches. By moving the switches to specific positions you control the opening RPM of the power-valves. This means that from a 100% stock engine to a highly modified engine, you have control over the valves and you select the range that works best for you. He did one for me years ago.

Here on mine you can see switches #2,#3,#5 and #11 are in the ON position and all others are OFF. This gives you the beginning to open and full open points as per the second chart from the left on the top row. Start to open at 6,000 and fully open at 10,200. Those are stock RZ350 1UA numbers, so 1986-1990. 31K values are 5,550 and 10,050. The bikes mentioned are reference values. You can choose any curve you'd like and you'll get the values quoted.

Great post there John. Do you know if Nick is still doing this?

FYI:
If you have such a device, try curve 14 (6000-8550) for stock'ish engines. That's been confirmed by quite a lot people to be the best compromise.
For higher revving engines (modified+pipes) , something like 6k - 9-9 5 k was more appropriate.

If you want to do this on your own, here's the how-to:

As a side note the PV modifiy functionality is included in several Zeeltronic/Ignitech boxes which is what I‘d prefer.
The price is not much higher, but the performance gain is much better. On the downside a certain installation/programming effort is required.

The target group for this box is people that can't do automotive electrical installation and prefer a plug & play solution that can easily be reversed to stock.

Here's an example on how you determine the optimal open/close rpm.
Simulate or dyno with PV closed, then with PV open.
Usually you'd pick the point where performance starts to drop with PV closed and have it fully open a few 100 rpm before top performance.
Voila, that's your transition rpms to start opening and be fully open.

If you have lot's of dyno time, adjust the PV at closed, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, fully open. That'll give you a finer pic of the rpms required.

In this case it turned out to be quite a bit before top rpm @ some 6500 to 8500 rpm.
