I finished rebuilding the forks tonight and got them installed. Took a couple of detail shots and stripped the front brake down. I have another small box of parts ready to take to powder coating.. I am leaving next week for a business trip so progress will slow down a bit.

Hi Mark!

I refurbed it. It was pretty decent in the first place but I wanted it to be close to perfect. I couldn't find any replacement switchgear decals which I would have needed to powder coat so I opted to mask and spray. They came out pretty good.
Information and restoration parts are pretty hard to find for these bikes, there were not a lot produced and a lot of them were raced and ultimately destroyed.
I am on with making the main fasteners and axles etc in stainless like I did with my RZ, current headache is finding decals in the correct shade of Red.
I suppose that's half of the fun right......??
I will let you know next time I am in Houston and hopefully we can meet up again.

if help needed in finding parts or info just let me know! Still have an YSR (all stock) since a kid and at some point had few more. Didn´t kept many parts but can get my hands at almost anything for this bike.

Thank you Manuel, I appreciate your offer and this embodies the true forum spirit! At present, I haven't got anything that I haven't been able to re-make, repair or work around but looking at parts lists, there are quite a lot of parts that are now discontinued. I was referring more to the items like thee switchgear decals which you only need when doing a restoration.
I am on the hunt for a decent Toomey exhaust if you know of one anywhere!

About the Toomey, there's a guy in a group in FB that has loads of parts for the ysr and he is in the US: look for the group "Yamaha YSR50 Trading and Sale", his name is Tim Wachowski (he might also have the decals that you want).

Keep us posted about the bike.

I follow that group and have spoken to Tim, he actually has a Toomey pipe but it is $300 plus shipping, I missed out on 2 a couple of weeks ago for $120 each. Tim is a good guy and I may still end up buying his if nothing shows up.
