one came up on a local auction site with 4,800 kms and he wants $5k ,usa speck bike .im not sure he will get that for it , wonder if it would be worth getting some from japan just not sure the demand is there

I haven't had much spare time recently due to work travel but here are a few pics of the progress (very slow!) I have just got the wheels and hubs back from paint, the parts I had re-chromed are winging their way back from England and I am about 60% finished on the stainless axles, engine mounting bolts, and a few other parts and the Ohlins shock has gone to GMD Computrack for a rebuild so in a couple of weeks when I get a couple of days to work on it, I should see some decent progress! It will be curtailed as I have to get the Honda RS125 and an Aprilia RS250 ready for track season!!

No engine transplants, like my RZ, original with period correct upgrades..

That is unreal attention to detail, like your RZ. If I was to undertake that precision on a build, I'd never ride the thing. I couldn't do it. Kudos!

Haven't had much time over the past few weeks but finally made some progress this weekend. I went to Ken's and we knocked out some stainless parts, he is a true craftsman, watching him mill the castle nuts for the axles was very impressive! My box of re-chromed parts arrived back from England and I also got my wheels re-painted. Another box of OEM parts has just arrived and on Friday I sent the Ohlins shock to GMD Computrac in Boston for a re-build, I should get it back in a week or so.
Progress should improve for the next 2 weeks so expect more updates!

Ugh, I was putting the wheels on at the weekend, got everything in place and tightened up, put it on the side stand up on the lift and the wheel turned to the left when I had my back turned and the stand slipped off the side of the lift. The bike landed upside down on the floor right beside the RZ! Not too much damage, just a few scratches to the switch gear, dented rim on the speedo and a mangled rear light but very frustrating! To top it off, I got around to stripping the motor tonight, I bought the bike as a non runner and found out why! The rear skirt of the cylinder was snapped off and jammed up under the piston! Not what I was hoping for but not the end of the world!
I also drained about a liter of oil mixed with gas from the gearbox! I will be re-building with all new bearings & seals etc. so fingers crossed!

AT least it didn't fall onto the RZ .
But i feel your pain ,i think we have all had a bike or something get away from us at sometime .

Got the motor stripped tonight, taking the crankcases, head and carb for vapor blasting to my friend Dimitri tomorrow. Also stripped the tank with Aircraft stripper and sanded a couple of the fairing panels... Hopefully I can make some more progress over the weekend!!
