Re: My Sunday rides with the GoPro and pictures
Made it out for a ride today to go watch the MotoGP at the Two Stroke Coffee Café. My bro-in-law on his FZ 600 and Mark on his Triumph Speed Four met up at See See Coffee. We also met Glenn there on his wife's 73 Suzuki 500 and Frank on his beautifully restored 69 Kawi 500 triple. We cruised through downtown Portland leaving everyone in a blue haze. Hit Skyline in the West hills and on into St Johns. We stopped under the bridge for a few pics, then on to watch the race.
The weather couldn't have been better!! Good times were had by all, except for poor Rossi. We couldn't believe he threw that one away!! Great race anyway!!

Looks like a great time
That triple sure is sweet. I like the T500 also.
Thanks for sharing.

Coffee and Cars at the World Museum of Speed in Wilsonville today. This week motorcycles were featured. I think there must have been at least 100 bikes there, all shapes and sizes. I wish I would have taken more pics, but was too busy BS'ing with some old friends. Here's a small sample of what was there. Sorry, no car pics this time.
The only other smoker there besides me. A very clean 94 NSR 250. We talked to each other for quite awhile about our bikes and how much fun they are.
A very interesting BMW side car rig. Kind of space age looking!
A very nice Desmodeci
Not one, but two Kawi H2R's sitting side by side. Not sure how they got there since they aren't street legal......but I saw no hauler around!
Pretty trick looking bikes and about 600hp between the two just waiting to be unleashed!!
Then there's my scooter
My favorite pic taken by my good friend Tom Stein as I arrived.

Re: My Sunday rides with the GoPro and pictures
Finally got some decent weather for the weekend and made it out for a nice ride today after replacing all the electrics on the bike over the winter. Sunny, dry, and about 55 degrees. The bike ran strong all day with no issues!!
Stopped for a few pics along the way...

Re: My Sunday rides with the GoPro and pictures
So I've been kicking around the idea about getting another bike to sit along side the RZ for awhile now. I was looking for a bike I could just hop on and go for a long ride with my buddies and not have to worry about the bike. The RZ has been very reliable except for a couple of things here and there. And I think I've got those issues all sorted out now.
I've been eyeing the 2018 XSR 900 on the internet and reading lots of reviews about it. I stopped in to check out the bike at the Yamaha shop and they said it was still in the crate and going back to Yamaha because their shop is moving and they will no longer carry Yamaha's. My buddy Dave is the sales manager there and we talked over what kind of deal he could cut me. Long story short, he made me a deal I couldn't refuse and now I've got a new bike in the garage!!
It started with a box, Then he sent me a couple of pics after they set it up. (No charge for the setup either!!)
Had to wait a week to get all my paperwork and insurance sorted out before I could pick it up.
I had to wait another week before I could ride it due to never ending rain and too much work.
I even got the custom Yamaha seat option with it too. Way more comfortable for my old butt!
They look good sitting together.
I finally got to get out on it a couple of times now and I love it!!! Super comfortable riding position, tons of torque and power, and it wants to wheelie a lot!!
Looking forward to lots of riding once the weather gets better.

Re: My Sunday rides with the GoPro and pictures
Now doesn't that look like fun!?!
Resist the temptation to wheelie that puppy. I'm at school right now for motorcycle mechanics. The bench next to me, pulled apart a new Yamaha 1000, is it the X10? It had less then 4,000 kms, maybe 2800 miles. The crankshaft on cylinders 1 & 4, were pooched. New crank is on order. The instructor guessed from wheeling.
The bike was donated by Yamaha Canada, had been tested by Cycle Canada Magazine. Our instructor dug out the test and one test rider reported it as a wheelie machine. Sure as $h!t the crank bearings packed up and took out the crank in under 4,000 kms. Oil sump starvation. Just saying.
The 2 stroke is a safe wheelie machine, but I wouldn't want to cook my 4 stoke engine that way. People have no idea.

That why I prefer dry sump 4 strokes.
Rory I hope they pay better up there than down here.

Oh man that looks like fun Charlie. Very cool motorcycle.
On another note, are you going to the one show this weekend?
framemaker will be there but I just can't commit to that long of a drive for a motorcycle show.

Hi T, possibly, not likely though. Our minimum wage is going up to $15/hr, but you have to understand what you can buy for that. You need $25/hr just to survive in Calgary, and I'm not even close to that.T.RexRacing wrote:That why I prefer dry sump 4 strokes.

We get US product, but have to pay much more for it. The worst part, we don't have 1/4 the selection you folks have down there. Everyone in the industry up here, is very passionate about what we are doing. You have to be to put up with the lack of. There are some perks if you ride, but, not much.

I'm not sure if I'll make it the One Show or not. Work has been crazy and I may have to put some time in on Saturday. If I do go, I'll snap some pics!!
I hear ya Rory! My wheelies have just been low flying power ones!! I'm not the stand up wheelie kind of guy.....only in the dirt on my 2 stroke!hondaror wrote:Now doesn't that look like fun!?!

Re: My Sunday rides with the GoPro and pictures
i dont understand how pulling wheelies would stress the crank to extinction.
i understand the clutch would take a hammering and the gear of choice .
surely they would give up before the crank.
great bike by the way
thanks mark
