Thanks Paul. Alot of this bike will be real nice now. Unfortunately the ugly tank and fiberglass rear may end up back on it negating all the newness underneath. I need to fix up a spare tank or maybe put on some other "spare" body parts I have tucked away.

This kind of stuff is always a disappointment. I bought new spark plug caps. The smaller boots in the photo below shows one really thin one (the new one) and one much thicker (the old one). I couldn't even get the thin one to slide up the plug wire so reused the old ones. How much material and .0001 cents did the manufacturer save reducing the amount of rubber for that thin boot? Jeez.

I put a lil dab of silicone grease, and it slid RIGHT on. Amazing really.

I actually use some non-silocone "personal lubricant" to install rubber parts that are not meant to come apart very often. The goo dries up and and the rubber part stays put.
For instance, I've used it to install hand grips and these NGK plug boots, radiator hoses, etc.
I've also used windex, soapy water or straight dish soap depending on the part.

Yes, well the porn industry is full of very inventive people just like the motorcycle industry....Occasionally chefs, manicurists, mountain climbers and dentists come along with helpful tools and ideas as well.

Wooden spatulas, emery boards, dental picks, plastic knives and "soft tie-downs" have all managed to find their way into my tool box.
Those exhaust pipe plugs the techs all use to keep water out of the pipes when you wash the bike.....those are just "butt plugs" with a different package right?

I realize I could have lubed the thinner rubber part per the porn comments above. I'll bet those web sites are getting a workout during these SIP times.
I just don't think this is a good candidate for cheapening and reducing the material content.

Also, our 2T "butt plugs" are designed with a much different shape. Yes they both perform with the same end result, but our bikes have an exhaust exit that is of a diameter that does not stretch, hence the different design. Or so I have been told...

Most of you know but for those who don't, when you use the VForce4 reeds you need to cut the ears off the intake rubbers.
I used a box knife trying to save the small perimeter raised portion. It doesn't look so great but shouldn't matter.
Those are installed so next was engine install. I still have the RZ500 engine crate and set it next to the bike. This ended up being the perfect height to set the engine on it and slide it right in to the frame.
Today I painted some parts and wanted to use them right away. So I took that same crate and made an oven out of it for curing the paint. Also stuck the clutch side cover in there.
This thermometer tops out at 199 degrees so I'm unsure how hot it got in there. I used the heat gun on the low setting.
Where I left it today.
