Hi Folks,
I was stripping my frame today and noticed what look like cuts down on the centre stand mounts. The centre stand was removed when I got the frame and I'm wondering if this was done to aid in removal? Nothing seems to be missing but it doesn't look right to me.
Wondering if anyone has thoughts on what happened and whether I can just weld and grind?
Thanks.

Re: RZ Centre Stand - Cut?
I'm sure someone thought that was good idea at the time. Maybe there was a pipe fitment issue. Weld and grind and it will be fine.
Re: RZ Centre Stand - Cut?
That's good to hear - much appreciated.
That makes seven items now on my RD/RZ welding "to-do" list. That's enough to justify digging out the welder from my shed and learning how to weld again!

Re: RZ Centre Stand - Cut?
Well - the welder came out yesterday and the fun began! Don't look too closely at the before/after pictures below if you're easily offended
There's a saying in the sailing world: "if you don't know knots, then tie lots" I take a similar approach to welding! Although in my defense, these welds still need cleaning-up!
For some reason, my frame had been shortened at the rear by about 35mm, which had the effect of recessing the tail light inside of the rear cowl. I couldn't find any matching diameter tubing so I welded in the slug - which I believe will be hidden by the tool tray. Also found a couple of rust holes in the bottom of the frame by the kick-stand so built-up that area as the metal was a bit thin close to the holes.
Hard to believe this took my about 5 hours...still have 4 to-do items left on my welding list!
