Steering stabilizer

I was going to use an Ohlins top triple tree mounted steering stabilizer for my Hybrid project (I already own it), but it puts my bars too high. What are you all using for a damper? and where can the best deal be found? I had an Ohlins side mount unit on my r6 and it worked well but you had to remember to turn it down before you looked like a clown in the parking lots or intersections!

I've had one of these on my RZ350 for decades and I just leave it on the lightest setting

I recommend another Ohlins side mount.

Doesn't matter what type you use. Still need to turn it up for high speed, and turn it down for low speed.

I find the side mount type is much easier to adjust on the fly. I always turn it up when I get on the freeway, and turn it down when I get off. Becomes second nature.

I can get my hands on some stock late model Ducati dampers but they are transverse mounted so I will have to fabricate mounts, I know they are 65mm from the fulcrum (steering stem axis) and I’ll have to check because the tank seems pretty close to the top triple but I’m sure I can fabricate a mount. If anyone has experience with a transverse mounted damper please chime in.

Arronmvrider fitted one like you have i think? worth checking his build thread for his 443 perhaps?

I fabbed mounts for my LC for a transverse as people said it couldnt be done. (i was following JFKs speech lol) pics on my site still i think.

Unless you can find a used one (and Lyn Garland may still have a couple), the new version comes from FFTP:

And probably elsewhere

That’s a very comprehensive build I will read through it! I read your frame bracing post on the lc and loved it; beautiful work

Those parabolic dampers are sweeet. I am going to shorten my steering stem and mount the under bar, if the bars are too high I will change it because I still want to run the stock fairings.
