RZ/RD 350 & Misc. 2-Stroke Tech BBS

Hello all. I'm searching for a better battery. I have a cheapo battery master that is dead in under a year, even with maintenance.
I found this AGM Motobatt MB5.5U 12V 7Ah AGM Battery
but curiously one of the reviews mentions that an AGM battery will not work with Yamaha YPVS stick with lead acid
I see no reason why an AGM would affect the YPVS. Voltage is voltage, amps are amps.
Am I missing something here?

If it’s 12 volts, has enough capacity and is capable of being charged, I’d use it.

I have been using these AGM for 10 years or so. They last 5-7 years. Just bought one 3/22/22.

I have moto-batt in my RZ. They are excellent batteries.

I use a BikeMaster AGM, it was like 25 bucks.

I now use alarm battery , they last with no maintenance and are dirt cheap . You just need a battery to make your flashers work at idle and prevent headlight flicking .

The Motobatt MB5.5U is an excellent battery. I bought one for my KH400 nine years ago and just recently replaced it.

Alternate method:

Several moons ago I experimented with Lithium Iron Nano Phosphate batteries (LiFePO4 A123). 20AH per cell. Cells are around the size of D alkaline cell (26650). 3.6V/cell. 3V nominal charge.




After I was satisfied that this would work, I moved the battery to the stock location. As far as I know this battery is still in service.

Agreed I just had my 2nd one die. Bought in 2013. I had one die last year, that was a 2012 vintage. I think they have a timer in them that when it reaches 9 years something disconnects inside lol.

Anyway, not unhappy with 9 years of life. :)

Will this work? My RZ will sit in the garage in Florida. I have AC in there but shut it off at night and weekends. It's hard on Batteries.

I keep posting because I'm some color matching paint and some final mechanicals away from snapping the front wheel off the ground!
