Jessy, do the banshee reed blocks bolt in to the RZ cylinders without any modifications?

Are you running these in an RZ top end?

The banshee reeds are 3mm wider but fit perfectly well, bolt pattern is the same, as they are slightly wider the windows are slightly bigger.

I have run the copy v force reeds in my hack bike with no issue, I might be lucky but from others I speak to they say the same.

So, I needed to replace the carb needles/seats and got a case of "while I'm in there" and decide to take the reed blocks out. I've never had it apart since it bought it like this about 10 yrs ago and runs good. It is a Canadian R model bike that spent some time on the track in the past. Anyway, can someone tell me what reeds I have here? The rubber intakes are starting to crack and they are obviously not stock so I'm trying to decide what to do. That's what I get for taking stuff apart...

I don't know what reed valves you have there. Not stock and appear to be CF (or imitation CF). Do they nest into those machined aluminum blocks? Those are stock intakes that have had the ears cut off which is required when using VForce reed valves.

Yes, the reeds go in the aluminum holders. There are no outer reed stops as you can see. The intakes look like the ears were machined off professionally, not just cut off. No markings of any kind on the parts. But they work well. The bike runs great with them. I'd like to replace the carbon reeds if I can find out what they are.
Update- guy on the FB group says they are V-force 2 reeds. After inspecting the reeds, I'll just leave them alone. They are not frayed or cracked at all. Strange that there are no outer reed cages on these.

Good call. I would run those reed valves as is. Not sure if they are Vforce. I have some original Vforce and they were still built with plastic.

Hey kpke.

A while back, someone ? posted that the Banshee reed block wasn’t as good as the RZ reed block, because it was thicker at the pointy end,
and this caused it to flow less air than the RZ reed block.
I don't know if this info is correct or not, but had both types of blocks, so I measured them and sure enough, the Banshee reed blocks are thicker.

Here's a link to the pics I posted of the reed blocks.

I'd want to dyno anything. My only slightly warm RZ I tried first, std steels. Aftermarket Fibres, then some borrowed Boysens.
Went home with the Steels fitted.
This isn't conclusive on highly tuned bikes as requirements change, buy stock on stock are hard to beat.
Road ported 1UA barrels, skimmed head, unrestricted pipes with free flowing mufflers, jetted to suit. Ok, close to stock.

Interesting Off Road. You would think since those Banshee reed blocks came 10 years later they would be new and improved. But like F5 said a dyno test probably should be done. But not by me.
