1ua top end with 31k carbs pilot jet

#1 Post by polarbaird » Tue Jul 11, 2023 4:15 pm

Hi All;

Trying to finish up a bit of a rebuild on my 84 RZ 31k, had to source a top end and was able to get my hands on a 1ua set of cylinders, rings pistons.

Did an air pressure test after rebuild of bottom and top end (all new gaskets and oil seals) and bike held 6lbs for 8 minutes.

Bike will start with #20 pilot jet but only at full choke and would die with choke off, went up to 27.5, bike will run no choke but only if air screw is pretty much closed off.

I have ordered 32.5 and 37.5 but wanted to check in to see if I'm going in the right direction with the bigger pilots or missing something else...

I have synced the carbs with the "window" alignment and have confirmed both carb slides are "lifting" at the same time and have confirmed no clog in pilot jet seats.

any thoughts/insight is greatly appreciated.

Something is wrong. Nothing to do with the jugs being 1UA. 31k carb with screw top is 22.5 pilot I believe.
