Original pipe finish sheen

#1 Post by evan_calgary » Fri Dec 29, 2023 1:11 pm

The original black on the RZ exhausts. Most i've seen looked to be a satin/semi-gloss. Was this the original finish from factory or just due to age and sun fade? Any recommended Canadian paint?

Evan,

I use Tremclad High Heat Enamel. The price has doubled recently, but you won't find an easier to apply paint or longer lasting paint with a superior finish. I use it on all of my bikes and have for many years. Once heat cycled and cured it will last forever. Prior to curing it will stain if you get fuel on it. Proper preparation is very important, of course. Gloss Black. The sheen will tone down a bit after heat cycling. The closet thing to stock that I've found. The fact that it dries to touch in 5 minutes and can be recoated right away is a bonus. Well worth the price, even with the recent increase.

Good look at it here on my NS400R.
