Re: racebike progression
to race in my club (VRRA) the parts need to be like what was used in the period one is racing (p4 in my case)
unfortunately the blue pot r6 calipers have been deemed to be out of period.
that being said does anyone know of a caliper that will work on the r6 forks with the r6 wheel?

Re: racebike progression
I'm not sure, but I'd look for older bikes in the Yamaha range, with a earlier design of a four pot caliper. Many of them are 'upgraded' to the blue spots, so we know the mounting holes must be the same. The TRX850 or FZR600 for example. There may be differences in the position of bleed nipples, or size of the pistons to consider.

Re: racebike progression
A quick look online seems to show that a similar caliper was used on lots of different Yamaha models and that the piston diameter is 34mm.

With 34mm pistons you'd probably want a slightly bigger master cylinder than 11mm, because the total piston area is greater than for the blue spots. Probably somewhere between 12mm and 15mm. I'd aim for 12.7 (1/2") to start with.
