It is a black pressed in plug that replaces the threaded plastic drive. It sits flush with the top of the case.

I was kidding :smt003

Definitely something else going on if it won't bleed.

Today I took the bike off of the stand out to the driveway. I parked it on the side stand and turned the front full left. This leveled off the master cylinder considerably. I fought it for a long time, tapped on the banjo fittings, bled just the master by loosening the banjo there, bled the calipers more, and was just about ready to give up when I started feeling pressure in the lever.

I think I can claim success at this point. Of course the bike has not been ridden yet and that will be the true test. But the lever feels pretty solid and pushing it down the driveway the brakes worked. Happy days. I should be starting this project bike soon.

Do cable tie the lever to the bars overnight, always helps.

Keep on it, you will get there eventually!

I remember a long time ago I had some blue brake fluid. I believe it was Motul 600. In a can...

I see that you have blue fluid. What type & make is it?

Yes, "eventually" is the key word here :smt005

The fluid is more of a purple color.

None of the automotive stores sold DOT 5. I purchased it off of Amazon. $24 to my doorstep for two small bottles.

It was another beautiful California Covid stay at home Saturday yesterday.

I made some nice progress on this project.

I replaced the leaking neutral switch o-ring and installed 10 mm offset 17 tooth countershaft sprocket. I’ve never installed a neutral switch o-ring with a gearbox full of oil. I didn’t know if the oil would come gushing out. I took the bike outside and leaned it against a fence post. Oil did not gush out.

Here is my latest in a series of recent videos on this project should you get bored.
1/19/21 YouTube video

https://youtu.be/2RoXOeBhRbk

After installing the offset sprocket I could now check and get precise chain alignment. The rear sprocket carrier will need to be machined down a bit. It is in the hands of Julian for a trim job.

I’ve been struggling a bit with doing a 17 inch wheel conversion on the rear of this thing but have decided to leave it alone. The wheels are a beautiful gloss black with paint applied by the PO so I’ll have to wait and see how it holds up. It looks like our beautiful winter spring like weather is gone, so I need to wait for another nice sunny warmish day to mount the tires.

I don’t know if this will format correct but here are the tires that will be mounted.
Shinko 006 Podium Motorcycle Tire
110/70 R 17 front tire
87-4021 110/70R17 V 54 3.00~3.50 23.07 in. 4.33 in. 42 psi
140/60 ZR 18 rear tire
87-4036 140/60R18 V 64 3.75~4.50 24.61 in. 5.47 in. 42 psi

The leaking neutral switch and old sprocket.

This is a terrible photo but I could swear visually the new silicone O-ring had a bigger cross-section than the black one being replaced. But I measured them and they are identical.

Sprocket and O-ring replaced

Tires have arrived. I can't wait to go fight my Nomar tire mount thing again. Not my favorite thing to do.

Coincidentally the neutral switch and YPVS bushing holders use the same size o-ring. I bought a bag of them made from viton that should hold up well.

Nice work. Appreciate the opportunity to hear it running. Sounds great, and right.
Good luck with it.

kobra, nice one. Thanks for that. I have added that to my parts list spreadsheet and will order on my next McMaster Carr order. $8.39 per pack of 25. Can those be used in place of the PV O-rings (high heat)?

Thank you for the compliment. I'm anxious to take this one for a ride come springtime.

I'm using them in the PV with no issues, they are rated to 400 degrees. If you wanted to play it safe you could go with the silicone ones they are rated to 450 and cost the same. I'm not sure what temp they actually get up to.

I think I went with the viton because it handles gas and oil better than silicone I believe.
