Re: Engine start problem after TSI mods
Thank's all. I will definitely check the valves. The ones I checked are the induction valves, "les clapets" in french, not the motorized ones and not the exhaust ones. The electric motor does the usual sound when ignition is turned on, but I didn't check if the mechanical links work all th...

Re: Engine sta rt problem after TSI mods
That's exactly it: I can kick it over, but it does not start. I turned 70 years old this past November 1st, and I've had my first bike, a Giulietta, at 16: I have been kicking for quite a while, and specially this RDLC I purchased in 1990! And I have this problem since I did the TSI mods and lost we...

Re: Engine start problem after TSI mods
What I mean is that starting the engine is difficult for me because of the high compression, and my rather low weight: I don't have enough strength to kick the engine to a high enough speed for the engine to start, I just have my weight to counter the compressions of the 4 cylinders. On the other ha...

Engine start problem after TSI mods
Hi all,
I cannot start my engine after modifying it as per TSI. I measure now 125 psi compression in each cylinder: have I gone too far? The thing is I weight 63 Kg, and my son who weights 80 kg has no problem to start the engine! Should I put 20 kg in my backpack and try again?
Happy new year all!

Re: Engine start problem
I finally got it! It was the HT leads, they were the originals and obviously sensitive to humidity. I got misled by the fact that the problem appeared after I did all the mods, and did not realised that I had moved the bike in a very humid environment at the same time. Thank's to all who tried to he...

Re: Engine start problem
Hi all
Thank you very much for all those suggestions, most of which I would not have thought of! I think I focussed too much on the mods, and not enough on the time the engine sat in pieces...
When I can get to it, and find the problem, I'll keep you posted.
Thank's again to all.

Engine start problem
Hi all My RD500 (47X) is a pain to start since I've done the following: - new pistons, cylinders rebore, increase diameter of exhaust as per TSI. - Jolly Moto exhausts. - Cylinder heads mod as per TSI (more comp). That's it! I have standard plugs, standard ignition timing. What it does is it takes a...

engine modifications
Hi all, I am re-building the engine, with some modifications. I have to go to 57.25 mm pistons, origin style. I have jolly moto exhaust, and I want to modify the heads as per the TSI (maybe a little less than specified). My questions are: - does it make sense to do the TSI mods only partially? - if ...
