47X AND 1GE WHAT THINGS ARE DIFFERENT ?

Re: 47X AND 1GE WHAT THINGS ARE DIFFERENT ?
Hope I'm not hijacking a thread here. Happy to move it.
I'm restoring a RZ500 and finally got the servo cables to control the ypvs. After fitting them and the oil / throttle cable I noticed that the rubber servo boot didn't have any cutout for the oil cable. I checked other photos from the forums and found other rubber boots did have the cutout. Does this mean some bikes didn't have this cable therefore the oil flow isn't adjusted with the ypvs position?

All 500's had the cable to the servo, that looks like a rd/dt125 servo cover

Cheers Steve. I didn't realise another model cover could be used.

Re: 47X AND 1GE WHAT THINGS ARE DIFFERENT ?
I just got hold of a rare nos inner rear mudguard kit and noticed a difference with one of the clips
On the 47X bikes the wiring loom clips are part numbers 90464-12027 and 90464-16021 (as used on the 47X pre-production bikes)
Items 20 and 21
On the 1GE bikes a different clip is used, part number 90464-10046 and 90464-16021 (x2) (Checked my 1GE pre-production bike and it has the 47X spec clip 90464-12027)
The 1GE pre-producton bikes do have a different set up to production bikes but that's another story
Item 20,21 and 22
Can someone check their 1GE bike and confirm this clip 90464-10046 was used in production?

On my 1GE clamp # 20 is similar to the one you have, but the three ribs are not there and there is a small hole instead...about 5 mm in size.

Re: 47X AND 1GE WHAT THINGS ARE DIFFERENT ?
Thanks for checking John
I didn't think this clip was used on 1GE spec bikes, another mistake on the parts list.
I will check and see if it was fitted to the RZ500S.

My late model 1GE has it....

Re: 47X AND 1GE WHAT THINGS ARE DIFFERENT ?
The 47X and 1GE carbs had different jetting specs and carb markings
47X Carb markings
1GE Carb markings
47X Carb markings
1GE Carb markings

- Idle air jet 1.4 instead of 1.1 = more air at low throttle position = leaner mixture
- N-8 instead of O-0 = one size smaller diameter nozzle = leaner mixture at low/medium throttle position
- 165 instead of 195 main jet = less fuel at WOT = leaner mixture at full throttle
(this is only theoretical ; my own measurements showed original Mikuni jets with 165 (new) and 195 (old) flowing pretty identical amounts of fuel)
- The 1GE ignition curve has more advance at high rpm, which would require a richer setting.
The engines have not been altered, so 1GE and 47X "should" require the same fueling. It's just that the 47X was massively too rich in order to prevent engine damage.

Folks, I don't mind citation.
But if a text is not your own, please add the origin.
A simple quote tag would help like:
