Re: Greetings, a Gamma Story and Help Needed
Nice bike. The 17 inch wheels are a huge improvement over that horrible 16 inch front wheel. Make the bike handle properly. Ride it and enjoy it.
Walter Wolf was Austrian BTW and came to Canada when he was 19 and made his fortune in the oil business. He has a farm just outside of Kamloops. The Walter Wolf model sold in Canada was ONLY a paint job, they are all RG500's no matter what color you have. The last 99 made were assigned that paint job, that's all. Other than that they are no different.

Re: Greetings, a Gamma Story and Help Needed
you are correct when it comes to the Walter wolf model. Its nothing but the paint and they are no different than any other RG500 except the 99 frames and that's what brings a higher price.

They didn't even have the WW instrument cluster like all the JDM WW's including the 250's like my RG250 MK4. Paint job and gold rims, that's it.

I have a JDM and I prefer it to the painted up Canadian models. Proper WW clocks and keys. Nicer stripes as well. Not as busy.

The latest posts are correct. I have one of the 99 frames. I opted to make updates to my Walter wolf. Now I save all the ordinal parts. I used the Japanese Walter wolf parts such as gauges, harness, gas tank and wheels are gold but not the stock wheels. GSXR wheels

So no WW keys for the Canadian version? I personally do not like the Graphic triangle style on the Canadian version. Any other WW I find very nice.

No, the Canadian bikes are just a paint job. Stock white gauges etc. Stock Suzuki key..... of course you could pay several hundred dollars for a WW key blank if that's what floats your boat They do come up sometimes.

Re: Greetings, a Gamma Story and Help Needed
It's a lot of fuss over paint and a number.
Re: Greetings, a Gamma Story and Help Needed
I was very fortunate when I bought the harness, gas tank. sending unit and gauges it came with a matching Walter wolf key matching locks.

Re: Greetings, a Gamma Story and Help Needed
If I'm not mistaken what the Canadian WW bikes make have "lacked" in fancy ignition keys and spiffy gauges they more than made up for by being the only stock non-restricted Walter Wolf RG's - with a claimed 95 ponies at the brochure. HP sauce beats farkles every time in my books - so Canada for the win.
Re: Greetings, a Gamma Story and Help Needed
All RGs have the same motor, same carbs, exhausts and same power, The WW in Canada was just a pint job, Nothing else...2strklvr wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 6:38 pm If I'm not mistaken what the Canadian WW bikes make have "lacked" in fancy ignition keys and spiffy gauges they more than made up for by being the only stock non-restricted Walter Wolf RG's - with a claimed 95 ponies at the brochure. Re: Greetings, a Gamma Story and Help Needed
So the JDM RG500 wasn't restricted? That would be unusual. Or were the JDM bikes all 400s?
Re: Greetings, a Gamma Story and Help Needed
Sorry, you're right John, The exhaust on the JDM 500 was the same as the 400 exhaust, they were restricted through the exhaust and slightly different jetting, The rest of the spec was the same. Swap the exhaust and jets and good to gosilverstrom wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 12:17 am So the JDM RG500 wasn't restricted? That would be unusual. Or were the JDM bikes all 400s?

Oh, 95HP Canadian WW was crank HP, All RGs have roughly 95HP at the Crank, 70 something at the rear wheel, Its called marketing.

Re: Greetings, a Gamma Story and Help Needed
There has always been a huge debate about HP between the RG500 and RZ500. The big Gamma advertised 95 HP compared to 88 for the big RZ. A friend of mine dyno tested a new RG500 and a new RZ500. The RZ500 was slightly ahead of the RG500, with both being near 72 HP. While HP is nice, weighing 58 pounds less sets the RG500 apart.
